Trying to set up the many mods I use I've had to cleanly uninstall/reinstall SH5 several times and started over without any problems. This last install however has somehow made all voices of the crew sound as if they are talking from inside a barrel; muffled and echoing.
I always use regedit to find leftover instances of uninstalled progams and also manually delete remaining folders connected to the game.
My sound card seems ok and all other environmental sounds in the game are fine. I've uninstalled/reinstalled twice without a change in the garbled voices.
I rarely climb up on to the poop deck but today this bilge rat needs some ideas. Maybe I just need to clean my ears out!

Use Search and select 'Show hidden and system files' and look for all traces of silent hunter on your C: drive. There may be a duplicate somewhere that's causing a conflict. Let us know if this helps.

But hey !

That's kind of realistic ... in a sub you actually are in a sort of barrel ! :D

Can you release this thingy as a Mod, maybe ?

:88)

Sorry, couldn't resist. :03:

I keep on livin',
to keep from cryin'.
I keep on dreamin',
to keep from dyin'.
I keep on trying,
I aint gonna stop.

Get right down to the bottom of the barrel and float back on top.

We all know someone,
whos always hurtin',
The sun is shinin',
they draw the curtain.
One thing for certain,
the pain aint gonna stop.

You get right down to the bottom of the barrel and float back on top.

Cuz i know the grass,
is always greener in someone else's yard.
And the world is so much meaner,
when your heart is hard.

I go out walkin',
in any season.
It could be rainin',
it could be freezin'.
I don't need no reason,
it's just so pleasin'.
And i can't stop.

You get right down to the bottom of the barrel and float back on top.

Tried Revo Uninstaller per Sober's post about his unwilling torps...
Tried searching with "show hidden files and folders..."
Reinstalled.... nada. :o
Sounds just like I'm still in the bilge room... or the ship's toilet...

But I'l keep on tryin til we get this sub to float back on top!

The same thing has just happened to me! :o I too did a reinstall yesterday but I also monkeyed with my speaker set-up (adding a sub-woofer)and Windows sound settings. There 's an option for 3D sounds in the game too and in Windows I changed settings from Stereo to 5.1 and fiddled with lettingthe Application take exclusive control of the sound etc.

Strangely as you move around the Sub the muffled voices get louder as you get closer to the source, it's strangely realisitc under some circumstances, it's like somone actually modelled it! :o A bit of a mystery :hmmm:

Seriously inching into my fun factor was a continuous crash to the desktop somehow relating to the navigator map, time acceleration, sighting the enemy and playing the radio all at the same time. This time I too had been tweaking my sound setup; also 5.1, with my onboard sound card (realtek compatible) who's connectivity options didn't match my surround sound speakers (Logitek), to see if that fixed the crash situation. You know the rest. I'l see in a while if the crashing has stopped... or I'l have to pick up the usual suspects again! :DL
