Norway and Russia agree on maritime delimitation

OSLO: After almost 40 years of negotiations Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Russian President Dmitri Medvedev announced today that they have reached a breakthrough and a deal will be signed.

This as well as introducing a borderzone passport freedom between Norway and Russia mean that civilian and economic cooperation can improve significantly on a local level, which hopefully in time will improve relations officially as well(Though I must say it seems like they are quite good at the moment).

The agreement is the result of meticulous efforts on the basis of international law, and is an expression of the great importance attached to international law by Norway and the Russian Federation as coastal states.

We're doing fairly well for ourselves, yes. Seven times more territory offshore than on land, and 1/3 of Europe's combined land and sea territory. This from a country that makes up only 4.7 of Europe's 731 million people.

Will be very interesting to see how we keep up when the oil runs out (or simply goes out of fashion).

They're not the nicest country in the world. Looking at the state of Chechnya and Georgia, you should probably be glad you even have a sovereign nation:nope:.
