I'm trying to figure this one out... I never had this issue before I reformatted last, although after just formatting yet again, I installed SH3 out of curiosity and I'm still having this happen.
I'm running GWX 3.0 with SH3 Commander. It does this regardless of what (if any) optional mods are installed, or even if it's a clean install. The game runs fine in general, for example when I start a career in 1940 with a VII out of Wilhelmshaven through SH3 Commander.
The problem is when I try to start a career in an IXC in the 2nd Flotilla in August 1942. After starting the career and configuring crew and such, every single time the game will crash exactly 90% of the way through loading, giving a black screen with the standard Windows error message. I haven't given it too much time trying to narrow down the settings that may be causing this, but it always does it for me with IXC, 2nd Flotilla, in the last half of '42. I'm quite sure I used to use these settings with no issues, so I'm baffled. SH3 seems to have no limit to the annoying little things it taunts me with. :doh:
If anyone has any idea on how to fix this, I'd greatly appreciate the help.
Edit: I've experimented with this a bit further, and it seems that it *only* crashes when starting a career in the 2nd Flotilla at any time *after* 1939, regardless of date or U-boat type.
