The rumour has it that you need to start a new career with patch 1.2 is installed? This would be BS! It would mean i played for months since release and i need to do it all over again? I mean lets face it the replayabilaty is seriously impared in sh-5.

That is usually the case. In any major patch enough core game files are changed that existing campaigns, if you can get them to run at all, will react very strangely.
I intend to finish off my guy's career before installing the patch. With the Mod collection I have running, and the list of fixes that have been published, I am perfectly happy with the game as is and see no need to start all over again.
So to review...
Game released on time: People upset that it was unfinished and full of bugs.
Patch delayed: People upset that the patch was not released "on time".
Patch released (presumably) in working state: People upset that patch wrecks their career.
Sun comes up: People upset that it is too bright out.

Me:
In the summertime: perfectly happy.
In the wintertime: longing for some summer heat (becauseI hate frigging winter).
:D
Back on subject: I agree, most likely (depending on the severity of changes) you will have to start new campaign. Good thing is, because the game SHOULD notify you about updating, you can finish your current campaign and then install the patch.
"Sun comes up: People upset that it is too bright out. "
"If the rain comes they run and hide their heads, they might as well be dead, If the rain comes.
When the sun shines they slip into the shade, they sip their lemonade, when the sun shines.
Rain, I don't mind. Shine, the weather's fine."
