The universe has always fascinated me.

Its unfortunate that we can only explore it through images like these and through our imaginations. Yet we are lucky to have that much.

I know there is life out there... doesnt have to be some super intelligent higher being... just some sort of strange fish, or tiny insect would be stunning.

thanks for sharing.

the intro to the movie contact really stirs me to thought... makes one realize just how very sub-atomic sized the earth really is in the grand scheme of things.

it starts out with a massive earth filling 90% of the screen with about 2 and a half minutes of zoom out into the distant universe.

here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNAUR7NQCLA for those who have not seen it.

I hope the human race has a very very long way to go.

Yea, cool. That is why I'm getting a telescope for myself and my daughter for our birthdays since they are close.

I know I won't be taking anything like that but I think astronomy is going to be a cool hobby....

I'm also looking at home made radio telescopes too..

You should look at the video on the SDO site.

That is hi-red video imaging, not CGI. I'm very impressed.
