Evening all

I was just wondering who out there has sunk the most shipping in a single career, anybody got 500,000 grt or a 1,000,000 I remember sinking over 2,000,000 in old Aces of the deep but SH3 is a fair bit harder I play at 92% and the best I have done is 350,000 tons not including warships which is my current career and that has gone from Sept39 to June42 (13 Patrols) first in a type VIIB and now a VIIC, i'm sure if I went with a bigger boat I would of sunk more but I like the smaller boats, I love a good convoy action.

So who out there has got the big numbers ??

Cheers

I play realistically - rarely get more than 10,000 - 15,000 tons in a patrol, sometims as little as nothing at all.

There have been many posts on this subject in the past and I have read of tonnage in excess of 2 million over the space of a career.

Much depends on where you seek said tonnage (less well patrolled areas, single ships etc) and of course the difficulty levels one plays at.

I play realistically, and my usual tonnage-per-patrol varies between 10K to 25K. Sometimes I get nothing at all, sometimes I've gotten quite fortunate and scored over 50K on a patrol.

I should also point out that, once it turns mid-'42, my tonnage starts taking a nose-dive. And by late '43 - early '44, I count myself lucky if I just make it out-and-back alive and in one piece.

the most tonnage I've sunk in 1942 in a IXB.
the power of 22eels and escorts that don't have the improved ASDIC yet is a bit of dynamite-fishing :D

in 1944 I usually stayed away from convoys or shot from a (presumably) safe distance of 4,000m. sinking lone coastal-freighters makes you proud then .....

Turn the clock back and paste a few extra pages on the wardroom calendar :03:

I'm racking up a good number with my current career, but I'm using a custom set of game edits to make that happen. And playing at 58% realism as well.

In my current career, I surpassed a million tons in the first half of 1940 (100% DiD in GWX).

It does feel a little hollow though. Long-range shots at exposed passenger liners in port may be good for renown and tonnage, but they don't provide the thrill that a good convoy action or occasional attempt to intercept a task force does... or the utter hell that is the last 2 years.

nope, I haven't.
needed 5careers (2died, 3retired) to get to May1945.

and I had a typeXXI for the last 10months. I haven't even got to my PGs (was only hunting in the grounds north of Norway) because they were in shallow waters around England (maybe my being anti-nazi showed off to clearly??). :nope:

edit: I enabled "realistic career-length" in SH3C
