Morse Code enthusiasts on the west coast of the U.S. will have the opportunity to hear two World War II-era vessels on 23 April 2010 between 1700 and 2100 UTC. The Liberty ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien (Callsign KXCH) and the Victory ship SS Red Oak Victory (Callsign KYVM) will be operating in conjunction with the Marconi Conference Center and the Maritime Radio Historical Society to celebrate International Marconi Day. The vessels will be communicating with coast station KPH which will be activated from the 1913 Marconi receive site at Marshall, CA. Initial communications will take place on 500 kHz and subsequent exchanges will use 425 kHz (ships) and 426 kHz (KPH).
