Hi all Tankers
What a great game and site you guys have here !
I have loved Tanks all my life, built model Tanks as a kid, driven them and rode as a commander and now play from the relative safety of my pc.
I have been given T34 vs Tiger by my Wife for xmas and need to upgrade my pc before I even think about the great downloads you have here.
Well done on such a great site :yeah:

Good crowd here but some are a bit mental (not me you understand!!!:haha:).
Glad you're joining us for the advance to Kursk, I need someone to draw enemy fire while I tiptoe around the flanks (if that's the word for roaring off in my Tiger).
Hope you have an enjoyable experience with this game and the members.

G´Day Knightcross! MMMMMMMMMMMM I note that you were only Elite Marksman, No. 2 Army & No. 4 Army, Navy, Air Force 1990???? Sorry but our ZW members club is very selective we only have number 1s in it!!!!!
Anyway we need new blood so we will take you in. Just kidding KC! Outstanding record! It's great have real pro tankers amongst us just for nthe sake of having real life input into the game and being told what is realistiv and what needs to be improved.
Please before you play a game just tell us which side you are playing so we can all make sure we all play on your side rather than against you:88)
Welcome!
BTW are the Royal Australian Defence Forces going toupgrade to the Leopard 2 A5 or A6 tanks?

The Leopard. Some would argue the best heavy tank?
I just thought KnightsCross, have you heard of Steel Beasts Pro?
It's expensive @ $125 but the realism is way beyond anything on the tanksim market.
It is used by many countries to train real tank crews, but maybe I am telling you something you already know?
Just a thought.
Can't beat T34 vs Tiger though, simpler times. No modern computers to help aim, just skill.

To my best knowledge the Australian army is one of the few customers who favoured the Abrams over the Leopard-2. It was said that there has been considerable political interference to make the decision like that. the are giving their Leopard-1s away for free if the receiver could legally claim some educative or history-preserving purpose: museums, public collections, etc.
The Leopard. Some would argue the best heavy tank?
At least it is by far the most successful. There are not many abrams customers worldwide, it has lost economic competitions against the modern Leopards most of the time. Which is the better tank? Hard to say, it depends much on the defence concept of the customer, I would say. The high fuel consummation is what makes the Abrams a logistcal nightmare for armies that do not rate top in logistic capabilities (and having the capacity to keep supply lines open at all cost). The Russians have abandoned their tank turbines, if I am not mistaken (the T-80 has had 1250 HP gas turbines, but the T-90 switched back to conventional engines again).
In Europe, the Leopard-2 is by far the dominant tank. Most NATO countries operate Leopards. where the Leopards have seen combat action (Afghanistan), customers tend to be extremely pleased (the Candians love the Leo2A6 they have leased, favouring them over 3rd generation Abrams).
Any discussion on "best tanks" necessarily must consider the Challenger-II as well, due to it's impressive defence kit. It's a very tough bug to crack. Also do not leave out the the Merkava-4, and the latest Russian tanks.
I personally favour the Leopard 2 over the Abrams - even more so since the latest German Tungsten SABOT rounds have reduced the gap to the higher penetration potential of the American DU rounds so much that DU rounds are no longer a decisive argument.
I just thought KnightsCross, have you heard of Steel Beasts Pro?
It's expensive @ $125 but the realism is way beyond anything on the tanksim market.

Around two years ago, when a major upgrade included several features and vehicles demanded by the Australians (who are a customer of SBP), the Australian defence ministry distributed copies of SBP to all members of their tank forces, for free.
If KnightsCross is in for reviving his experiences with M113 and Abrams and Leopard-1s, SBP is for him. The sim features several Australian types of vehicles, amongst them the Leopard-1AS and the Australian Lav-25, the M113 anyway. The M1A1 and several different Leopard-2s are there, too.
I am sure the Americans did a consiuderable amount of arm twietibg.many of the Abrams customers by the way took it as a second option simply because the Germans overly restrictive arms export policies like in the Gulf countries simply prevented countries that preferred the Leop[ard 2 over the Abrams to buy it.
On the other hand the Aussies preferred the German/French Tiger attack helicopter over the Apache Long bow and the German/French Airbus refuelling tanker over the US competition.
Interesting th use of Tungsten core shells since Germany pioneered its use during WWII on its Tigers and Panthers but in limited quantites and very effectively. DU BTW has been known to cause high incidence of cancers amongst US veterans.
Modern tanks are very close to one another in terms of performance, firepower, capabilities although argueably the Leopard 2A6 and the latest Abrams seem to have a slight edge over the Challengers and the Merkava.Bu these tanks all use the German designed 120 smooth bore mm gun and even the tracks and in some cases the transmission and engine(Merkava) are German made or designed so the case could be made that the German made Leopard 2A6 is the best by virtue of combining the best designs.
Good news about Steel Beasts.I wish I had waited to buy mine:doh:.
it's in a class by itself because it is the real thing the simulation of actual existing and state/of/the/art modern battletanks.Steel Fury and TvsT are just historical curiosities but in a way they matter because the modern tanks of today were born out the legends of WWII whether the Tigers , Panthers, T34/85...
Happy birthday SB!:woot:

Tanks for the great welcome Gents :DL
Wow heaps of questions, I'll do my best to answer them
The Leopard I's have been offered free to RSL's ( Returned Services Clubs) and others, but the transport cost of $200,000 to move them is out of reach. It;s a shame the Army didn't use the excuse to transport these as Driver Training or an Exercise of some sort.
I have a clipping from a major Aussie news paper that says "Leopard II on track for the Army"
They were to be purchased for a mere $282,000 each. My son got me a 1/32 scale Leopard II to go with my Leo 1 which is modeled as 22A B SQN 1AR. I promptly modeled the Leo II as a Australian Tank and displayed them together, now I have the only Aussie Leopard II in the country :(
The purchase of the Abrams seemed to come from nowhere, they are all First Gulf War rebuilds. The Aussie crews seem happy enough with them, although many of the more experienced guys were looking forward to the Leopard II. Logistically they must be a nightmare with fuel, they need wheeled vehicles, as they can carry more fuel than the M113TLC, the problem here is, can they provide resupply to all the terrain the Tank will be operating in ?
Personally, once you have crewed a German tank why would you wont something else.
As for DU rounds, why ? there is already enough rounds out there that will stop a tank,.and soldier the world over have enough to worry about in their later years, they say that DU rounds along with the different cancers can effect the next generations by way of deformities and continuing cancers. I find that sad that Governments think this it's ok, As a soldier, I served, blow my leg off ! leave me bleeding on the battlefield ! kill me ! but don't pass these hideous burdens on to our children and their children ! enough said.
Back to gaming, I love to play WWII games, Panzer Front & PF Ausf B have been my mainstay, cant really say why but when I'm made to think about it, I think it has something to do with growing up, with WWII being the big thing for a kid in the 1960's I'm drawn back there just as a kid today has grown up with Iraq & Afghanistan they like the modern combat games.
Also I like the rawness or the basic combat of find em aim & shoot, rather than the radar and thermal imagery of the modern games, it's seem like cheating in a way. And lets face it the Tiger and Tiger II are irresistible to anyone who likes to think of himself as a commander.:D
I'm also scratch building a 1/6 Tiger I for my 1/6 Wittmann & Woll, and they are getting impatient with me when they see me playing TvsT :hmmm: LOL
Frinik what is the good news about SB, also my Mum says I'm Number 1 :rock:and no I don't live with my Mum

Knightscross you can play Steel Beast Turm Aus meaning stripped of all the modern equipement turned off* although btw the German Panthers were already equipped with nightsight(infrared) devices in 1945. I feel like I am being reincarnated as Skybird:D selling Steel Beast...
WWII/wise you have the choice between Steel Fury , a very nice single player sim with plenty of mods including the Tiger I and II and T34 versu Tiger which originally was a nice looking but very flawed and buggy sim Multi player mostly. However it's has been resurrected in a spectacular fashion by ZeeWolf also known as Leonardo de VinZee.There 's an upcoming Kursk relkease. If you have a pc with strong specs and $ 60 to disburse then it's the game for you.Check it out on the TvsT threads. My own advice is get both games as I have and enjoy them each for their particular qualities and features.Steel Beast is expenssive and very good but not WWII.
Best and see you on the battlefield:salute:

G'Day again Gents
This is my first time on pc games. I'm slowly reading through your threads, they are very interesting but seem very confusing. I am finding that I have the same issues as many of you and I can see you have the fixes for these problems The pc I'm using is my sons and seems to just run the game in most levels and locks up in others, especially the last German mission.
I not confident enough to do anymore than read until I can get the hang of this stuff, plus I need to get my own pc which is a little out of reach for me at the moment.
This is a great site and all of your input is terrific, I would love to get one of the sub games SH5 seems to be the to get, at one stage in my career I thought of a transfer to subs so you can see my interest is real.
My passion remains with the Tiger 1 and I have posted some photos below of my, 1/16 Tiger S04 88 kills in winter cam, and 1/6 scratch build with my 105mm HEAT Prac round in front of it.
Tanks for your help so far

Hi Darren nice motor in the Garage!!
If you're having trouble running TvsT it could a huge number of reasons.
To improve in your case I'm sure all members have tips/advice but to give us a clue if you decide to try and improve, please publish your PC specs here; most crucially CPU type, GPU type/series, sound card (if any), RAM and software/OS.
You're wise to sit back and gather info though because you will probably be abe to tweak some settings yourself when you get confident.
And it won't be long because any man that that can file a Tiger from a solid block deservs great respect. :haha:
Silent Hunter 4 Gold is a good package at the moment (includes U Boat missions plus Pacific), with SH5 you need a permanent internet connection to play, and many posts critisize SH5 for not having the sim realism of the earlier series!
For what its worth Darren I am not qualified personally to criticise or praise the series as I don't own any SH games !! - but, I know a man who does!!!! Just some points maybe you might consider, apologies if you knew all this before.

Hi Darren
Yes it's good to have children, they say it keeps you young but with me the opposite occurred!!
Looking at your specs it's would seem a mixture of good and bad news.
First the good news your Hard Disk looks OK :har:
No I'm having a joke mate, generally your system is a bit light especially for TvsT. What I would do is see how far you can optimise what you've got to see if you can survive until you can upgrade or get a newer PC.
Firstly you have a good OS for TvsT IMO. When you bring up Task Manager (Cntrl Alt Delete) how many processes are running and what are they taking in resources? I get slowdowns and my system isn't a slouch by any means and I run TvsT with just 18 background (essential) processes or applications.
I can post my apps running if yours are top heavy (i.e. you've got 30-40 apps running) and you can shut some of yours down and see if my apps work for you OK.
Mostly it should but there is some trial and error. You can safely turn off a significant number to improve or free up spare capacity. The worst you can do with this is cause a shutdown which will not harm the system at all it will re-start as normal - all you need to do if it does this is keep that particular app running next time!
Then bottom out all the Game options like shadows, model detail, forest animation, grass etc etc. Horrible to contemplate I know but must be tried to see what the performance can translate into gameplay and FPS.
I apologise in advance if you have already tried this BTW.
However if not let me know what you find, and what you decide

Hi Darren
When you say do you raise the TvsT processor setting I assume you mean my PC processor (In Other Words my intel chip!); if so, the answer is yes. I have 3 settings of which I set it to Turbo (or some such waz!) anyway the highest of the three.
Overclockers recommend the BIOS setting but I'm just using an Asus m/b bit of software (comes with the m/b drivers etc) as a little utility programme. It won't give you big increases as it's very conservative and it suits me at present. If I go for some heavier overclocking I'll alter the BIOS if I feel I need more grunt.
Cutting down the background apps will free up more processor power for TvsT (and any other game actually) but as others have rightly said your system will barely cope with the demands of the game. Having said that I am hoping with everything optimised as much as you can and setting the gameplay options to low there will be a chance you can get it to run. If not succesful it will have to be (IMO) a new system, since upgrading what you have won't be worth it. :damn:
Best of Luck with this

G'Day Mort
Thanks for your help, been out of action for a day my injuries caught up with me :nope:
I'm sure your recommendations helped, I've been able to play as the gunner all the way to the end of a game. I can usually play only one game before I reset and clean with crap cleaner, small concession but this stops the game going haywire. What a shame we have to bottom out the game options, it looks great with them maxed out but I don't get far, at least I know what I'm missing.
I can play with your apps + one [18]which is some sort of system app that keeps turning itself back on so I figure it needs to stay on..I also have an external program called Tune Up Utilities, which has a turbo mode, I find this helps also. So now with this and your app settings, I can play all positions with minimal disruption, it's great being able to play the gunners pos :yeah:
As for a new system, being on a pension there's not much play money and I can't get a loan, I can do one of those rent till you buy things but you end up paying through the nose, I'm putting a little bit away each week and should have enough in around 10 to 12 mths.
I really appreciate yours and the forums help, so thank you

One more thing, ahhh come back it's not that bad :ping: LOL, sometimes for a change of scenery I go onto multilayer, I note everyone seems to have problems with this, I can play with no problem against 1 bot for up to 1/2 hr and then it shuts down my pc  I crapped myself the first time ! but I just start up again, clean and all is well. It's funny that I appear to have less problems while playing multi until it abruptly shuts down, this is just an observation for you !

Hi Darren
Sorry to hear you've been crook mate. I get a small problem from time to time too it's a pain in the ar** called Mrs Panzer Commander :haha:
Joking - I got a ruptured/herniated disc after (can you believe) getting fit!!!! . Had all sorts even an operation (laminectomy) but get trouble if I overdo it.
Anyway I certainly hope your a bit better.
It's a real bummer cutting all the visuals down but it might be the only way to get this workable until you get upgraded. It's the nature of the game - have you also tried Karkov Steel Fury. Not as good but would probably run and look much better on your m/c - look up screenshots I think you'll like it too. I too am on a pension now so I know you've got to make the best of what you've got sometimes. To be practicle though you only have to look at the systems other guys have got and see they're not getting massive performance out of their systems either. I'm happier you can run it anyway, even if it's a bit "neutered".
Quote - "One more thing --aaaah come back it's not that bad !! :haha:
I like that - you got a good sense of humour and I should say "Oh No!! not a another bl***y come back merchant more bl***y grief!!"
No Darren I don't play MP anything actually. Probably missing out on some aspects but I like SP (if it cuts it!!) but I can see the obvious attraction of "human" opponents.
Good to know you've got something positive and I am happy to help if I can. Can I quote you as a satisfied customer?? Most people I help usually commit Hari Kari :haha:

In 1993, I was classed A Grade fitness in the Army. I was an Assault Troop Instructor and having a great year. I was awarded The Soldiers Medallion for Exemplary Service and told I was going to Somalia as a Crew Commander AFV. Sounds good so far, I thought it was my year, well like you I buggered L4/5/S1 disc's, all I did was pick up a 30kg box of paper, dam, that was something I did almost daily. Some years after that I had a driver go through a red light and hit me on my motorbike, I'm lucky to be here, but that is a whole other story, this one left me with C4/5/6 in the neck and nerve damage. So I suppose I can say I understand your pain, although I don't think that's much of an achievement.LOL
Somalia Story
My mates that went over come back with a wealth of experiences, one of them goes like this
On one of the roads they had set up a road block, at night 2 men maned the boom, while the rest of them rested or slept inside a mud brick hut [another 7 men]. This went on for about 3 weeks and this particular night they all decided to sleep outside the hut along the wall. Around 3am they were awakened by load explosions and covered in debris :o
They reacted quickly and captured 3 insurgents on the other side of the hut after they had each thrown grenades into the hut. Apparently they were shocked to see them still alive as they had been watching them go into the hut. They were also taking fire from another group who escaped into the night. This other group must have told there story as they thought they saw it, [ ie grenades went into the hut and the Aussies came running out], because the local rumor went around that the Australians were bullet proof and you cant kill them :yep:
Sometimes it's good to be lucky
These men were first into Somalia, before the US & Black Hawk Down
Darren

Absolutely Knightscross!Withte Tiger 0.98 and 1.0 mod you get to play models such as the TIger I, Tiger II, the Js2, The T34-85, the KV2 and there´s a new Steel Panzer version 1.5 coming in less than a month which will allow you to play the Marder, the Flakvierling, the Hetzer, the Stug IIIF, the Panther, Su76, 85, 100 the ISU 152 the Elefant-Ferdinand in addition to the original T34-76, KV1, Mathilda Mark II and the Mark III as well as the Panzer II, III, IVF1 and F2 and the stug III C .Already many tanks have been added like the T26, T51, the T38,T60, Panzer IIc, Stug IIID,the Panzer IIIg and light armoured vehicles like the BT5 and B10, the SKDFZ 232, 251 and 451.There's one mod that even allows you to drive a Soviet truck for one mission.
That's why I have been able to make those user/made missions based on the TIger I.As soons as the new SP 1.5 mod comes out.I'll modify them adding the Panther and the Koenigstiger and the Soviet SUs.The mission editor is very user friendly so I have little merits but I have to hone my skills and make more refined m,isisons. This is a project Friedrich Wilhelm another ZW member and SF afficionado as well have in mind.He is the one who deserves the credit for getting me started.
Variety/wise SF is great like Panzer Elite but with better graphics, AI and effects.

Frinic Hi Mate :salute:
What sadist made a Soviet truck driveable eh!! I enjoyed Steel Fury a lot what was good about it was the release package worked great "out of the box" with no big FPS or settings/gameplay issues. Even the ground troops worked (and bled!!) very well. I don't know if the damage models were spot on as the Matilda seemed to be able to hit (earlier series) German tanks with very little effect (i.e. took many rounds to disable/knock out German Armour). I've not actually had the time to try out the Mods but some look great - nice to know you recommend them.
Is Zee going to release a driveable Soviet truck?? If so Lc should test it :haha:
I'd better watch what I say as Lc is now an Officer :yeah: so probably due for a crutch upgrade as well (silver with oak leaves?).
All the best - Mort:salute:
Hi Morty Tiger mate I left a post for you on the Steel Fury thread in this forum a while ago.I offered to email you some of my user-made missions for the Tiger in SF.I ain´t ZeeWolf merely a ZeeSheep:har: but I have made 30 decent tank-shootout missions with my last one fielding 120 tanks.
A Russina modder made that mission with a truck.More a masochist than a sadist if you want my opinion:timeout:
The damage model is not an issue anymore with the biggies in play JS2, Tiger I and II, the KV2 tanks sizzle and burn bright.

Sorry I missed that offer you made - very good of you, I am usually tied up making IL2 missions though. I've been making them for years I just don't have time for everything:wah: Life's too short isn't it.
What I would really really like is to crack the TvsT editor! I tried it a few times but I'm in need of some basic tutoring. I don't really want to make maps/terraforming stuff but would be really happy to be able to produce simple missions/actions on existing maps.
I don't think I'd have the time to do anything really complicated; if it took Zeewolf a year to learn the whole thing it would probably take me 3 years to produce a simple mission :har: I found the editor guide fairly unhelpful unless its me and I just don't get it.
IL2 - by comparison is a breeze, I know i've done it for years and practice makes you quicker; but it's certainly more user friendly.
Keep up the good work, I may have a go at Karkov Steel Fury again sometime in the future and I would love some basic tips on mission making myself from you then - if your offer still holds. I have never tried SF mission editor at all.
Appreciated mate:up: Mort
Morty, my offer still stands. I can email you my SF missions anytime you want! All you have to do is give me your email address so I can yahoo them to you.Re the tutorials,I got a tutorial package from fellow ZW member Friedrich Wilhelm and I can email it to you as well. The Mission Editor of Sf is fairly user-friendly.
If you have user-made misisons for IL2 I am a taker. Although I don't play the game myself( I love planes but I like to fight with my feet on the ground although I wouldn't mind having a stab at UBoote games.) but my 2 sons just plain love it.
Best and be quiet unless your Panzer Commander at home hears you chatting on a tank sim forum....:nope:.Mine is very accomodating she even instals my games and mods when I don't have the time.....:sunny:

Appreciate your offer, I'm being a bit cagy here as I'm awaiting delivery of a new laptop. I use my laptop for all things internetty, and downloads etc.
The delivery is due in about 3 days (I opted for the cheap delivery!!!!:wah:).
Problem I have is getting all the software I need for it and making friends with Win7:hmmm:.
My old laptop (the one I am using now) has all the stuff I need on it but most not compatible with Win7.
If you've lost the will to live with this true life adventure of Morty I've nearly finished :haha: So there will be a short delay where I suffer the pain
of getting the new PC up and running and sourcing the best (for me) sotware for CD/DVD burning, antivirus, anti spyware etc and all that good stuff. It should be easy but as ZW rightly said there's always something! :nope:
BUT after that I'll PM you with all details and we can sort it out.
Many thanks

PS; If I disappear off the forum the new laptop was not a success :har:
Morty my Man you sound like a man on life support?Hang on your new love will be home in 2 -3 days!
I just ordered my desktop pc ( a first for me, a serial laptop owner) and it will be at least 3 to 4 weeks before I can admire my handsomeness in that cute 24", true bright or whatever it's called these days screen and enjoy the bliss of 8 gigs of RAM., a 2.8 ghtz processor , the crude details of a dedicated 1.5 gb graphic card while storing all the passions of my life on the One terabyte( 1000 gigs you read correctly) of hard disk space....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:wah: the longing, the pain, the sweet agony of unfulfilled expectations and the never ending torture of waiting for the loved one......
Ok enough poetry! This is just to say that I share your pain my Mortyfied friend and companion of misfortune!
BTW anyway you can put Mrs. Panzer Commander on a USB memory stick and erase the file by mistake????:88)

KC I guess with your rig it's difficult to get FPS up to the 10s - or more. I think you'll like Steel Fury as I believe you'll get better results.
Keep your discs pumped up - I've just given mine a beer infusion!
Frinic that sound like a screamer you've bought (not an i7 by any chance?). My laptop is an Asus - Intel i5 but only 4Gb of RAM and a med Graphics card so probably not good for TvsT but I didn't really get it for that. I might try and run it later for a test but I think the GPU will be the bottle neck on this machine. I'd like to hear how it runs TvsT when you're all up and running. I assume you'll get Win7 with it?? You should be OK with 8Gb RAM. I had to make recovery discs for my new PC and I was amazed it took 4xDVDs !!!!!:o so the Asus drivers and Win7 is a fairly big programme. It must be compressed if you get a retail copy on one disc!!
BTW Mrs Panzer Commander cannot be deleted, she's like a Norton Antivirus you can try but you will never fully succeed. She can be overwritten sometimes; but it's not worth the follow up retribution!!:wah:
And we're in love again since she's approved the Asus notebook budget for this financial year!!!:haha: Although I feel this is a temporary euphoric state set to change if I lock myself away at Kursk!!!
All the Best - Mort:salute:
Yes Morty it's anIntel core i 860 or something of the kind and the pc is an Acer.Aspire AM5811.. I really regret having to give up my Toshiba Satellite laptop though because of the Harman Kardon speaker embedded and the ATI HD 3850 GC (512 dedicated but up to 1789 mb available)which is great but unfortunately they paired that with a 2.0 ghrtz processor which can't keep up with Zee's mods.I 'll have an Nvidia Gt330 GHC instead and I am no fan of Nvidia ,I think ATI makes better GCs price/quality wise( my opinion),but the price was really unbeatable and I can always change my Gc for an ATI 4870 later on....:yeah:
MMMMMMMMMMM re Mrs. Panzer commander you need to keep the honeymoon going:hmmm: How about buying her a cool leg epilator which gives you massages and pedicurte as well. That way she'll be busy playing her new electronic s for hours while you blissfully blast T34 s unnoticed:sunny:?

Been away being beaten up by Win7 on a new notebook. Its not really for gaming but it has a nice HD screen and hopefully might cope well with Steel Fury. Mainly it's for internet use and making backups D/L etc.
After some problems I seem to have most apps running OK and loaded up some utilities like 7Zip and Image Burn all the time fighting off Microsoft's attempts to have me subscribe to endless downloads of useless dross.:damn:
My HP printer worked, finally, after I forced it to run on another model's driver (64Bit) the original driver was for 32 bit.
KC you could try to run your game at the monitor's "native resolution" i.e. the one it was designed to accommodate; you should be able to find out from manufacturer's information on your model. This might not work but worth a try. If however your graphics card can't support/fill the screen fast enough you'll have to revert back.
Frinic - the honeymoon's now over, Mrs Panzer Commander was found playing solitaire (AAaagh) on this lovely new notebook - sacrilege
she wouldn't entertain CoD, IL2 or Flashpoint DR, oh no bl**dy cr**py solitaire - women!!!!! :damn: I informed her not to wear this machine out on frivolous games :haha:
Let us know how your new PC is performing when you get it up and running, I too think ATI are best GPU's at present but I like NVidea they've just fallen behind right now.
At least you can get inside Desktops easily for repairs/upgrades.
Poor old KC having to read all this sunshine blog about PCs whilst suffering 640x480 res screen. Never fear KC steel fury will run better for you.
All for now Best Regards - Mort :salute:
Wow KC I am amazed! You must be playing the game in slow motion...The advantage is that it gives you plenty of time to see those T34/s coming ever so slowly at you and then your shell whizzes its way in a ballet-like motion( a bit like scenes in the Matrix).
Seriously Man this is terrible.I had TvsT installed on my wife's laptop, a decent Acer with 1.9 gHz processor, 2gbs of ram, 120 gbs hard disk and a 256 mb dedicated Nvidia 7000.The game played fairly well at lowest resolution 800x 640 with antialiasing and forest animation turned off ( water details as well since it does not play a big role in the game) and the rest was set at 70%.I averaged 12 to 18 fps.But your machine is hopeless at least to play sims.Even Steel Fury on the same laptop I cannot play it because ,surprise, surprise it is awfully slow 5 to 8 fps and unlike TvsT at these low values gameplay is terrible! While SF is not a graphic hog it demands a fast processor. If your processor is below 2.0gtz then the game will be very, very slow.If your graphic card is less 256 forget it it either won't play or you'll have to turn everything off and believe me the game loses its flavour with low or poor details.
My own findings: Tvst( without ZeeWolf's mods) minimum 2.0 ghtz, graphic card minimum 256 mb dedicated not shared.RAM 2 gb minimum.
Steel Fury; processor 2.0 ghz, graphic card 512 dedicated( for good quality), ram 2 gb minimum.
TvsT with Zeewolfs mods processor 2.4 ghtz minimum, graphic card 512 mb dedicated minimum, ram 4 gbs
I am talking about people with Vista as OS the values the results might be better if you have a more user-friendly OS like XP and Windows 7.
If you have a desktop why don't you upgrade it?It's cheaper than buying a new one and graphic cards and RAM chips can be purchased at a real good price these days.
Re Steel Fury I love that game. The gameplay is nice, the special and graphic effects are good, the AI especially the infantry is good (although the damned AI tanks can be pretty stupid at times. They often drive/sink their tanks into deep water when trying to cross a river !).The landscapes are frankly pleasant with plenty of hills, rivers, lakes, small log cabin villages, forests and woods; lots of places to ambush or concela yourself and there are different 18 maps.Add all the mods( I have lost count) and user-made missions( I'll be pleased to share(email) those I have made once you have the Tiger mod installed )etc. This game is already a classic and like Panzer Elite(12 years now) will run for a long time thanks to the creators support and dedicated modders and fans. The stock misisons are a bit tame but once you get the mods and user-made missions you'll see more action and variety.Wait until you play my user-made missions!I'll post some pics of them.
That being said I believe ZeeWolf is doing the same with TvsT.He is going to turn that game into a classic and if modders can join him and create new games and vehicles etc. This game has the potential to be around for a long, long time. But right now it's a oone-man operation and it's going to take time to get there.
Morty heed me and buy Mrs Panzer Commander a leg epilator-manicure-pedicure kit.It always works with women...:arrgh!:
BTW you made inadvertently a pun when you said quote"Poor old KC having to read all this sunshine blog about PCs whilst suffering 640x480 res screen. KC and the Sunshine Band????

Hi Gents
I've had a hectic few days around home with both my Wife & Son being rushed to hospital by ambulance about 4 days apart
My Wife had suspected heart attack, but they couldn't find anything and put it down to migraine
My Son was found on the road not knowing how he got there, turns out that he went over his push bike handle bars and broke his collar bone, he had amnesia and could only recall family members and nothing else, his memory is slowly improving
So just when I thought it couldn't get worse,:-? at 4am returning from a hospital trip I found my 9yo cat dead on the road, there were tears allround and after digging a nice spot in with the roses we were preparing to say goodbye when my Wife lost her footing and fell out the front door face first onto concrete, I was about 4 feet in front of her with the cat and may have broken the last part of her fall. She soldiered on and we sprinkled rose petals over the cat and finished just in time to go back to hospital to bring my son home. So now they are both very sore and resting while I play nurse, oh boy !
On another note
SFK 1942 arrived yesterday :DL I installed it and all appears ok except when I load a game or Tut. it gets to 100% loaded then the screen goes black and I get this message
Exception core:
001: Error initialization program.
in note pad, when I close the note pad the game shuts down
any Ideas ? Ive tried with the task manager setting shut down to a min and without turning anything off, all game settings low, my pc set up is on page 1or 2 of this thread

Hope all is well

Kc; sorry to hear about your family problems! What a streak of badluck!!!!Did you break a mirror?????:hmmm: Sorry about your cat too I have a female cat of my own who 's also 9!!!!
And Sf is giving you grief too!!!! Unbelievable. I can't do anything about your wife and son except my best wishes for a speedy recovery .AS for SF here's what I can tell you:
if I remember well your computer has low specs? Refrsh my memory please!!! The minimum specs for the game to start are minimum 3 gigahertz processor speed,( my own is only 2 gigs through and the game runs fine because I have 4 gbs of RAM, and a solid graphic cards with minimum 512 dedicated and double(1028) shared) 1.5 gbs of RAM( although this is rather limited in my opinion), a graphic card with minimum 256 mbs dedicated( they say 128 but I frankly doubt that the game would run properly.I tried on one of my latops with such a cards and the fps were in the order of 4 to 5 ) and at least 3 ggbs of free hard disk space.
However the reason for the game to crash with such a message might be that there's something missing in your files or you haven't got Direct X 9c installed on your pc.Make sure you have it and that you have that Dir. 9C installed or that your sound drivers are also up-to-date.
If neither of the above is your problem then I suggest that you re-install the game into the C: drive making sure you have removed all the files form the previous instal.
Below in bold letters I have pasted what I have from my own SF installation manual. This may help you find out what the problem is:Cheers and better luck!!!!:yeah:
Recommended:
Processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200\Intel Pentium D 3GHz
Memory RAM 1,5 Gb
Video ATI Radeon x1600\nVidia GeForce 7600 256Mb
Operational system Windows XP SP2
ATTENTION!
- If you are having problems installing the game or the game won't start (Windows 2000 or Windows XP Service Pack 1), it is necessary to install an updated version of vcredist_x86.exe and Microsoft .NET Framwork 2.0 (dotnetfx.exe), which can be found on the game's installation DVD in a folder called REDIST. It is also recommended to install DirectX 9.0c, which can be found inside the REDIST folder as well.
- The game dos not work on nVidia GeForce FX video cards.
- The game requires a CPU with SSE instructions.
- The game my not work correctly if the CPU or the video card are overclocked.
2 Installation
Install DirectX 9.0c if it is not installed. Make sure to have the latest drivers for your ATI or nVidia video card installed. Run setup.exe and follow the installation instructions. You can start Steel Fury from the menu under Start\Programs\Lighthouse Interactive after installation is complete.
3 Controls
The "Default" control layout is specified in a file called user_controls.pdf. To change controls setting to your likings, choose Options\Controls from within the game.
4 Compatibility
The Game was tested on following CPUs:
- Intel Pentium IV 2,4GHz
- Intel Pentium IV 3GHz
- Intel Pentium D 3GHz
- AMD Athlon 2500 (Barton)
- AMD Athlon 64 3000
- AMD Athlon 64 3200
- AMD Athlon X2 4200
The Game was tested on following video cards:
- nVidia GeForce 6600
- nVidia GeForce 6800LE
- nVidia GeForce 6800
- nVidia GeForce 7600GS
- nVidia GeForce 7600GT
- nVidia GeForce 8800GTS
- ATI Radeon 9550
- ATI Radeon 9600
- ATI Radeon X600
- ATI Radeon X800
- ATI Radeon X1600
5 Mission Editor
The mission editor requires administrator rights to work. For the creation of height maps it is recommended to use a graphics editor that allows you to edit and save files as TGA. Gimp, a free graphics editor, allows you to work with TGA files. Get Gimp from www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org/). It is desirable to save TGA files without compression (Note: Gimp saves compressed TGA files by default).
6 Known Issues
1) With single-core Intel CPUs, the game works about 30% slower than with equivalent AMD processors.
2) For the game to function correctly, it is desirable to have more than 768Mb system memory and 256Mb video memory.
3) The game does not work on nVidia GeForce FX cards!
4) Do not enable anti-aliasing within the video card's settings, as they do not affect the quality of the displayed graphics, but slow down the game considerably and could lead to visual artifacts on some video cards.
5) For the following ATI video cards, accelerated output (instancing) can be enabled: Radeon 9500, 9550, 9600, 9700, 9800.
6) ATI Radeon 9600 video cards might display artifacts connected with some parts of the landscape "dropping out". As a workaround, pause the game, switch to the Desktop (Alt+TAB), start the DOS command line interface (Start > Run Program > type 'cmd' and hit Enter). After the DOS screen is open, press Alt+Enter and the screen resolution changes. Press Alt+Enter a few times, then close the DOS console again. Return to the game and continue playing.
7) ATI Radeon 9600 video cards might display a black or green screen after the game has loaded. As workaround, press F12 (the screenshot key) - this will bring the screen back to live. Continue playing.
8) For increased game performance, turn off active anti-virus software before you start playing.
9) The game requires SSE CPU instructions
10) The game might not work correctly or freeze if the CPU or video card is overclocked.
11) If the game locks-up or reboots the PC after a while, try to disable sound hardware acceleration, high quality sound or disable the sound completely. Also, try to update your sound card driver.
12) If the game was installed on Windows XP Service Pack 1, it is necessary to upgrade to Service Pack 2, or, enable Windows 95 Compatibility Mode for the game application and the game installer. In addition, it is required to install .NET Framework 2.0 as well.
13) Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 might cause the game to crash to the Desktop. It is recommended to update your sound card's drivers with the SB LiveDriveUni-Pack.

Quite a bad run of luck there KnightsCross. Hope your Wife and Son both recover and everything works out fine.
Sorry to hear about the cat, being a cat lover myself I know it's hard.
I don't think your video card meets the minimum spec.
On my copy of Steel Fury the minimum spec card is listed as a Nvidia 6600.
I had one of those FX5200's when they first came out,I got rid of it pretty quick.
According to Wiki,it is only compatible up to Direct X 9.0b,so that may be the problem.

Thank you Gents
Looks like at the least I will need a new video card and then, start from there on SFK1942
well I will have to go mount up on a Tiger in TvsT
I can't believe that the night before my cat died I spent a couple of hours going through your subsim cat thread :o showing my Wife every cat !
You have or in some cases including myself, had some great cats, I will post a pick soon
:sunny:Thanks Puss 4da good times, rip.
Where else would you find a thread about cats but on a tank sim forum?
We like to go off-topic
KC it does indeed look like you'll need a new graphic card as your is on the list of those that don't work for SF.
There's a price war between ATI Radeon and Nvidia these days and as a result you can get high end gcs for a good price.I would suggest an ATI Radeon 3850(the one I have). It's considered to be in the 2 out of 6 level of quality/specs and according to the reports I have read one of the best if not the best in terms of quality/price.It gives you 512 mb dedicated , 1024 gbs shared and up to 1368 gbs video memory available when no there are applications are running.
It's the one I have on my laptop and I am very happy with it. But you'll need to upgrade your processor otherwise it will be money wasted.Like giving your car anew n body and suspension and keeping the same old underperforming engine under the hood.Aim for 2.4 ghtz or more depending on your budget.
If you have more money available and want soemthing better you can go for the ATI 4870 which is currently the best (2 gbs dedicated).Otherwerwise Nvidia has competing models but slightly pricier.
Expect to pay anything between $ 120 to $ 200 and above(US dollars).
Cheers.
Since we all love Tigers playing TvsT I guess loving felines:DL is a prerequisite to become a ZW club member. ....

Sorry to hear about your troubles KC. Its not altogether helpful to say; but we all get these setbacks in our turn, however we sincerely sympathise with you.
Also had cats and they were all characters - much missed.
On top of all that your video card (the most expendable thing at the moment!!!) continues to function.
Don't think you wasted your cash on SF though it will be usable for a long while yet, my version runs on WinXP (32 bit) and Win7 64 bit so its flexible and won't age overnight. At worst it can wait until you get upgraded but I would urge you to download a couple of updates/patches (minimum the PzIV sight reticle and the widescreen mod/patch) to make sure you have all you need as and when.
All the Best Mort
I concur with Morty. Money spent on Steel Fury is money well spent. That sim with all the mods passed and future is very much alive and is rejuvenated. The Russian modders also seem determined from their chat on the Avia,Sukhoi forum to make some sort of Kursk mod as well. They have asked for maps of the Kursk area and I wouldn't be surpised if they come up with some new mod based on that.
Anyway including user-made missions( mine excluded:D), single missions and with all 4 Steel Panzer mods plus the Tiger 1.0, the Panther-Hetzer and Stug IIIF mods you have easily right now you have over 200 different missions( many are repeat simply with different tank models).Once you getb the hnag of the mission editor which fairly easy to use you can add your own and once all new tanks models are included in the new Steel Panzer 1.5 mod then you'll the choice between 60 to 70 different tanks and armoured vehicles and over a dozen guns types( artillery and AT).
Like Panzer Elite but more modern.
Not that you should not get interested in TsvT with ZeeWolf's mods and missions. On the contrary ,I think both SIms are great in their own fashion and complement each other.
Re price of graphic cards I was pessimistic you can get a good one for $ 80 these days but don't go beloew 512 mb dedicated. preferably go for minimum 896 dedicated or more.
Cheers

your computer's RAM is pretty low KC, upgrading that will run your games a little better... another 2.5 gigs will go a long way, I have 3 gigs of RAM in my machine and I can run TvsT and Steel Fury well with my HD3450 512
getting the HD4350 with 1024 VRAM will definitely improve your gaming performance, with said RAM and video card upgrades you should be able to handle quite a few newer games.

I don't have a clue what the difference is with these 2 cards and weather the DDR2 memory is a separate item or part of the video card ? :o
The 1st one $40 XFX ATI Radeon HD4350 says it has 8GB memory with DDR2
The 2nd one $70 ATI Radeon HD4350 says it has 1024 MB Memory with DDR2
Are these the same ?
Is the DDR2 a separate unit ?
Is one of these better than the other ?
Do I need to add any other components, and what exactly please as I am totally noob at this
To me the 8GB memory for $40 seems the best, but I don't know what is actual memory or someone making it sound good ? both items are new
My aim is to be able to-
1. play SFK 1942 which I have just got
2. Join the ZeeWolf $60 club
Hope I don't sound to dumb, I'm slow but worth waiting for :D

KC as I said in one of my past posts you need minimum 512 mbs dedicated. The HD 4350 you are suggetsing seems quite right.Apparently what matters as well as total video memory is the memory bus ( the higher the better 98 is better than 64) and the memory type DDR3 is preferable to DDR2.But i think your card is quite right and so is the price.
AS Sledgehammerand I suggested you need more RAM.I have 4 gbs of RAM but Vista eats 1 so I basically have 3 gbs effective. The more RAM the faster your programs will run. Otherwise it´s like having a Porsche engine with a 2 speed transmission.Hard disk spcae is also important .If your games are all in the C drive and it´s clogged with limited space available your games will run. It´s important to defragment your hard disk on a regular basis. Some pcs( like mine) do that automatically ofr you every week for example. Finally when you play turn you antivirus off and any other program running, UTorrent , window defender etc. This way all your pc´s resources are mustered for your games not spread around.
8 gbs memory??? for RAM yes but for a graphic card it´s IMPOSSIBLE it must be a typo. The best video cards do not offer more than 2 gbs of video memory and they cost a great deal more money than $ 40.AT that price that graphic card would have been sold out in minutes!!!!!Just go on the internet and check the models specs. There are dozens of websites where you can check it out
Cheers
KC after posting I checked the specs of the ATI XFX HD4350.As I suspected there was a confusion in how you read it.It offers 8 Gbs of band memory not of graphic memory. That´s what it says on the website.
There are 2 types of HD4350, one with 512 mbs( the cheapest at $ 40 probably) of video memory and the other with 1024 more expensive).
For $ 30 more you get double the video memory so if you can afford it go for the model at $ 70 this way you won´t have to upgrade in 6 or 7 months and prices may go up.
All in all both are pretty decent cards.

Hi Darren
You're getting lots of good advice and I would just add a couple of things. If you are new to upgrading; don't worry we all started being new once!!
So you don't waste your money I see the size of the GPU is given in the specs; so measure the existing length of your GForce FX5200 GPU and make sure the replacement will actually fit in the slot and clear any other components before you get it. Sometimes you can live with a bit of "overhang" (i.e. card has to extend out of the rear of the case slightly. But if it means the card is obstructed within the case by other components on the motherboard that cannot be moved/relocated you're immediately checkmated. :damn:
Also check the power required (I see the constraint in the spec you posted said 300Watt Min) so check your power supply (label on the unit somewhere or get model number etc and Google it). Some later cards require another auxilliary power cable plug-in to get enough juice!!
Most power supplys should be 300 watts (plus) but with your luck lately it might be a 25Watt unit :haha: -- only joking mate!!
Anyway All the best - Morty :salute:

Kc I don't want to sound like a party poop but your processor is awfully slow with barely 1.15 gigahertz????? Coupling such a great graphic card to such a slow processor is akin to putting a Toyota Corolla or a FIAT engine in Porsche or Ferrari body. You'll have all the beautiful flashy car body with paltry engine performances. You need a processor with at least 2.4 gigahertz otherwise you'll be enjoying your games in beautiful slow motion.... You're also low on RAM I would advise minimum 2 gbs of RAM (3 or 4 would be best).
What makes games and downloads run well, fast and flawlessly are basically these 3 essential ingredients; processor, RAM and graphic card.

KC, For an extra 2 gbs of RAM you'll probably pay $ 75.00 as for a faster processor $ 125 so count a maximum of $ 200.00 although you could probably find something decent around $ 150.00. Just 1 extra Gb of RAM and a 2.2 ghtz processor would give your games a big boost especially with your new graphic card.

Overall they're both pretty similar even in price however I would give the edge to the first one but only if you can swap the Nvidia Ge Force 7025/630 graphic card for another one.Didn't you buy a brand new ATI HD4670?If yes then it would be perfect as the Nvidia 7025/630a is an older generation card which does not support Enhanced video and would definitely be a stepback game-wise.
With the first one you can expand your RAM to 8 gbs which the number 2 pc does not appear to offer. This is good. The processor is slightly faster on the first one too; 2.8 vs 2.7 gghtz
You would need to have an OS though that would help with downloads and stuff. You can always recycle your old XP or get a free Linux-type system if you don't feel like buying Windows 7.
For these reasons my choice would be number 1.

I decided to wait on the card and go for a new system. I'm on a pension so you can see I've been saving pretty hard, so in about 3 months I should have something good. Your advice has helped me understand what I need and has been a great help. This will be the first system I have got for myself as the pc I'm using now is my Sons, it has been his study pc and has well served its purpose. My Son is still off work from his accident, he was very lucky and so am I to still have him. He wants to upgrade his pc in a different direction to me, so it's a good time for me to get my own and I think I will run XP because I want the pc for gaming mostly and saying hi like I am now.
Thank you so much for your help, as I get closer to buying I hope you don't mind me showing you again before I part out 6 mths of hard savings

KC you are always welcome for advice, tips, chat, suggestions or even stories. I am sure you must be excited like a kid at the idea of getting your new pc:woot:
It´s a good rig too with the specs you described and a brand new ATI 4870 you´re going to play TvsT, Steel Fury, Panzer Elite, T72 etc in great details, with high fps and very smooth running....Once you get your pc don't forget to install DirectX9C as most of these games require it and your pc will likely come with either Direct X10 or 11 (:hmmm:although you don't have an OS pre installed on your pc.).Better check with the retailer what drivers come with your pc of if there aren't any?
Cheers
I would have thought that the system would come with the motherboard driver disc?
Once I do a clean install, the first thing I run is the driver disc.In the past, Windows hasn't always installed the network drivers,so running the disc is essential.
Then I get anti-virus up and running and then the pain that is the never-ending updates :(
Chucky made a very good point! Re antivirus no need to spend money on any of them. You can get free, legitimate, downloads of Panda ( I recommend Panda 2010 very user-friendly and you just click on it to de-activate it when playing a game and simply click back to get it running again) or AVG( heavier and less user friendly but solid and reliable).
It´s important to make sure you have the latest versions of your graphic( video) and audio drivers. You can check it out on the internet on the website of ATI Radeon or whatever brand of audio system you have installed on your pc.
Best of luck!

If this is your motherboard, you have a PCI Express 1.0 slot.
The answer is YES, The card you inquired about will fit, BUT.....
The Video BUS is 1.0, you are getting a 2.0 card, and the capabilities of the card will be reduced, as it will bet bottlenecked on the video bus, but not to worry too much, as it will work.
Your call.
Robi you didn't say which game you are unable to play with your current pc and graphic card? The problem might not be so much your graphic card as your processor which is too slow????

don`t think so I was looking what needs sh5 and my processor is better then the minimum what requires sh5.anyway thanxa a lot for your help @frinik.if you have any other advice for me I am all ears .. :D
Good stuff Robi! It´s not advice so much as a reminder.Sometimes we forget the obvious.:03:
Although recommended game specs are not always accurate. For example Steel Fury creators recommend a 3.0 gigahertz processor as a minimum requirement but I play the game very fluidly at max resolution on my laptop with a 2.0 ghrtz duo core and and on my pc with a 2.8 ghrtz processor.
You current gc runs 256 mbs of video memory? Your new one should do fine although to tell you the truth .I prefer ATI cards I have a GT330M with 2.095 gbs of dedicated video memory and I am not enthralled by it I find my ATI 3850 with 512 mbs dedicated to work almost as well if not better.According to lots of game blogs Nvidia seems to be losing ground to ATI price-wise and quality wise.
Best of luck
can anybody recomend me a good tank war game something where you can stay inside of the tank please?(something realistic?)
can anybody recomend me a good tank war game something where you can stay inside of the tank please?(something realistic?)
and the game must be good for windows vista
Robi, tanksim-wise there are basically 3 WWII sims Steel Fury, T34 versus Tiger (particularly since ZeeWolf has taken over the sim, giving it newlife and new mods but it's not free) and Panzer Elite ( noty Action that one is an arcade game for children).Otherwise if you're looking for modern tanks then there's Steel Beast which is a classic and the best but expensive or T72 Balkans on fire which is more affordable and not bad. That's it.All those sims let you play the various positions inside the tank;Commander, Loader, Driver, Gunner, Machine Gunner and Radio Operator( depending on the sim). I have all of them WWII and contemporary and I must admit they're all good each in their own right.WWII-wise I am more engrossed in Steel Fury because it's got ttons of mods and tanks, the mission editor is user-friendly and I am making user-made misisons.TvsT has better graphics but the ME is pure Greek.Panzer Elite also has tons of mods and is quite good but it's graphics are ageing( mind you it's cl;assic it's 12 years old abnd still very popular) and the infantry sprites are dated.
Up to you!
Cheers

Frinik - Yes our English Summers are reassuringly fleeting!! We did have one this year though it came early. Mrs Panzer Commander is looking for winter quarters and a good defensive position. Me --- I'm looking for an easy life :haha:
Hope your graphics card cuts it for you albeit a model down.
I just had a problem where my card just overtemped (95deg C) had a bonging warning so I checked the temp quickly (on the V Tune utility) and shut off right away. On checking the fan had ceased to operate. Cut a long story short ordered the Akasa Vortexx Neo ---- replacement h/s and fan ---- as supposed to fit my 9800GTX+ but did it ( No rollocks!!!!)
Now it does!! after snipping the aluminium fins with Mrs Panz Cdr's nail scissors and cutting out the plastic casing in 3 places (araldite-ing some reinforcing plastic back as stiffening) and having a minor wiring change (now to PSU no fan control now from the card connection - as 100% all the time) it seems to work OK. Took 3 days on and off to mod the "preferred solution". Need some more tests but looks like running just above 50 deg c on GPU intensive apps.
Down side Mrs Panzer Cdr is having trouble cutting her prehensile nails now with the mangled nail scissors - I could be in trouble soon. I suggested that her nails had thickened up dramatically because she's getting old tough and brittle :har:
Anyway I love the look of Zees work to date - it's looking superb. I agree with youre comment about a degree of replayability, if it could ever be introduced by randomising some elements this game could last forever (well almost !!). Mind you Zee has a shed load of work here I can only marvel at his ability and competence and wish I were ten per cent as good!!
Mind you where graphics card coolers are concerned I'm your man!! have scissors will travel :haha:

So after reading your threads I thought I would reload active X9c, no joy.
I ran the game in compatability mods XPsp2 and Vista and each time it fails just before I get to play a game
Any help would be greatly appreciated

HI Knightscross! It's probabbly because you are missing the following dll files in your game . Without them it crashes:
mscvi70
msvcp71
msvcr70
msvcr71
If you don't have them in your game's main folder then you ahve your answer.
You can find and doznload them from Microsoft's download website.
