Just got orders to relinquish my command to my exec and report to Kiel to assume training young squids ... say it ain't so! :har:

Its pretty much the same fate really. Dodging Depth Charges and Hedgehogs from DDs in the Atlantic or dodging 1000lb bombs from bombers at the naval yard... SSDD. At least while commanding a boat you can strike back and sink some ships! :arrgh!:

Just curious what year is it in your campaign?

He has to be using Commander. That's the only source that has a "Realistic career length" option.

Yes, for sure... my first DID captain with that option enabled got transfered to BdU after 10 patrols.

Got the same orders Saturday PM! After the 9th patrol, late 1940 and over 100K. (I turned it off this time!)

Well being retired (twice in RL) and now with Commander (12 patrols) allows me the chance to spend more time with Helga ashore. :haha: Meanwhile I passed the baton to a capable exec who has reported 12,000+ tons off Rockhall on Oct '41, U-56. Very aggressive feller. "Ok ya squints and swabbies, take a seat. Class starts now! Stand up. Sit down. Stand up. Sit down. Stand up. Sit down. Stand up. Sit down. "

:salute:

Gotta love sh3 commander for things like this, my commander got retired and then was hit by a truck and died a week later!

They will get my Type VIIb when they pry my cold dead fingers from the periscope. :arrgh!:

Damn straight, if I get retired I'm putting a request in for a position as ships cook aboard my beloved U-47. How could I turn her over to somebody else? it's my U-boat. MINE!!!!! I'm not sharing!!

Protip: once you've peed on the conning tower ladder, the ship is permanently marked as yours and they can't take it away from you. It's a longstanding naval tradition, kind of like rum and sodomy.*

*Sodomy is not officially endorsed as a method of laying permanent claim to crew members, and may actually result in increasingly urgent requests for transfer.

There is so much blood and DNA of mine in my trusty U-83 VIIB that we are practically related. If they retire me they have to retire it and give it to me as my pleasure yacht.
