Greets Amigos!

I know I am in the right place. I've been watching a tutorial on advanced targeting with sonar (over my head, but in for a penny ....). There is a sonar contact reported at 5,000 yards, and reported as heading 325.

Now, I thought that means if I wish to intercept to his current position (I've not yet started to track him - I know to ping him every couple of minutes to establish his heading/speed {is this right? Seems a ping gives you away}), he is 325 degrees off my bow. But the tutorial just said the three two five means a heading of 32, at five thousand yards. Huh?

I'll continue watching, but wanted to ask this before I forget it.

Thanks Troop

Well damn. The tutorial is for SH4, but I figure the concept is similar throughout all versions, no?

Here is the tutorial: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/1280661/SH4_Advanced_Firing_Solution_Tutorial_Part1

I'm guessing (not played SHIV) that the ping is sonar. I'm afraid there's no sonar in SHV. You'll have to go to periscope depth or lower and take a hydrophone reading every once in a while instead.

No worries, Germans hardly used sonar pings anyways.... It's detectable.
