I found this hanging on my grandads wall, I've never noticed it before.
Tried to take some close ups but my phone isnt too good at macro settings. These are original cigarette cards printed between 1939 and 1943 (if I remember rightly, I accidently cut the dates off the top of the frame )

One of my work clients has an original commendation note signed by Monty himself.
One of his relatives was in the desert rats and commended for acts of bravery. I'm tempted to snag a photo of that too :DL

Very nice....I remember collecting candy cigarette cards like that olys footballers, cricketers etc. as a kid.
I don't have them now but I believe some of the rarer sets are now worth a tidy sum.
I hope yours is

Great stuff!
Cool! Yeah, they may be worth something :)
Are some perhaps a little later from the Korean war era?
Good find!

Very nice that your GrandFather has them.
Now make sure you suck up to him big time
so they are left to you!
Steps to insure they are?
1) Get rid of all others that stand in your way.
2) Alibi, Alibi, Alibi!

Let's see here...
HMS Puma was commissioned in 1957.
HMS Hampshire in 1963.
HMS Victorious is depicted as she appeared after her refit which completed in 1958.
HMS Lion was commissioned in 1960, the Porpoise in 1958, the Daring in 1952, and the "New Assault Ship" card probably depicts an early version of what became the Fearless-class LPD, the first of which was commissioned in 1965.
So, it would seem like you're about 20 years off there. :O:

Interesting!!! I'll go back and check on the dates and snap another pic. If somethings labelled wrong it needs to be fixed. I did wonder though when I saw the "Guided missile destroyer" card
I'm pretty sure they hadnt got that kinda missile tech in WW2. Would it be possible that some of those ships started life during WW2 and were just refitted over time?
