I am on the last mission of the campaign which is Black May. Somehow I totally missed out on Operation Drumbeat and a couple of others.

I hope when I am finished I can take my vetrans crew from the start again and that the new patch will be out. I will keep playing this over and over.

As I come to the end, the things I have noticed are that:

The game has come more "alive" with the new mods available
The AI is truly shocking, I have managed to get to 1943 having been depth charged only 10 times and escaped all of them
There is a total lack of variety among the stock merchants and destroyers
The crew dialogue is dire but it is a great idea and hopefully can be improved
The crew management screen is poor. I would love to see the old type where you could promote individual crewmen, give them varying medals and replaced injured and killed crew
I would like to see an office at the dock where you can conduct general business
I desperately want a IX class boat. I love my boat in SHIII and the increased range and weapon load would come in very handy.
Harbour traffic desperately needs increasing. To find New York harbour empty at the hight of war is complete PONY!! Is should have been teeming with ships of all sizes. The fact that I shlepped all the way there to find nothing has put me off other long haul trips. I love harbour raiding and for me this is an intergral part of the game
Mines, nets and gun emplacements Need to be added asap, Can't understand why they weren't in there in the first place, although I am aware that the modders have an issue where they put them on and the game crashes.
Lastly, and this is just a small thing. I would love to see Aldis lamps being used on all ships and boats, especially if it could be made so you had to give recognition signals to friendly and enemy boats etc.

This list isn't exhaustive, i'm sure there are loads of things people would like in the game and I am sure you guys will come up with a list twice as long!!

Well, that was a bit disheartening. I find myself in mid-'42 on the Arctic Campaign - bored out of my mind. After reading your sum-up, believe I'll just stop altogether and use MP and Historical to, "scratch the itch."

I HOPE they do this ONLY AFTER fixing the stupid friendly AI that does everything in their power to go into reverse and ram you.... cripes I have only done 3 patrols and died on one of them in Kiel Harbor due to being rammed by a German cargo ship. :nope:

Anywho congrats and thanks for the honest review after playing!

I die way more often in my home port than in the depths of the Atlantic.
Come to think of it... I think I've only died on patrol from TC issues, and I've died a good handful of times trying to get into the harbor to end patrol or refit my war machine.
On the plus side, it gives you a good reason to be on the bridge and on lookout with your crew to prevent any close calls. You just can't trust cargo ship captains these days (these days=1942)
