I'm a little disapointed that Ubi have not made an official anouncement on their website/forums(English).:nope:

I'm also a little worried that this delay might mean that Ubi are pulling their surport. (e.g. this might be the final patch?) So they are making sure its complete so as not to make another patch :06: Otherwise why not just release patch (1.20) now with a small patch to fix the localisation problems to follow (1.25) and then 1.3 in a few weeks/months?

Although i could be reading too much into it and i'm completly wrong.:ping:

If this was to be the last patch, they would have fixed a lot more bugs than announced in the upcoming patch notes. ;)

Does it even really matter anymore? Many of the important game play features that were in SH3 and SH4 have been removed from SH5, and cannot be added back in by modders. Patches will not correct how much SH5 was dumbed-down. :shifty:

You missed out "I'm glad the patch is delayed, it shows the devs are taking their time to get things right " Which would be my choice.

In addition the devs seem to be going the "extra mile" to change things to make it more easy for our modders to import SH3/SH4 ships in to the game which they definitely did not have to do.

The last choice ruins the credibility of this poll... a thinly veiled attempt at creating more DRM complaints.

You added a choice in the poll for those of us who don't own the game, but added the stipulation that it's because of the DRM, which isn't the reason for many of us (myself included.) I don't like it, but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me, and I'm sure there are others who feel the same.

If you're going to have the option "I won't buy the game until DRM is removed" then you should also have the following:

I won't buy the game because I can't afford it
I won't buy the game because I prefer fleet boats
I won't buy the game because summer is almost here and I don't want to get sucked into a game
I won't buy the game because I'm content with the version I already play
I won't buy the game because...

The list could go on and on.
Forcing us non-owners into the "Anti-DRM" group is ridiculous.

The thread link below lists many features that were either removed from or are not currently working properly in SH5. Unfortunately, from what I have observed so far, is that many of those features listed are probably hard-coded and cannot be changed through casual modding. Big ones for me are no more crew deaths and very little crew management now.

Firstly, I didn't want write an entire essay of options 4 seems perfectly valid to me.
Second, I am not personally interested in the DRM issue...I bought SHV the day it was released and I love it, especially with the great mods but it seems many people do have an issue with it according to these forums, therefore I wanted to see if the imminent release of a patch had softened their stances on purchasing the game.
finally, if you don't like the subject matter of this thread, feel free not to contribute to it.....

I wanted to see if the imminent release of a patch had softened their stances on purchasing the game.

Then why not have the choice "I might buy it now that I see they're fixing it"?

All I'm saying is that your poll suggests that the only reason somebody might not have bought the game yet is because of DRM. And the DRM issue seems irrelevant to the subject of your poll, which is asking about the delay of the patch. That may not have been what you were trying to do, but that's just how it comes across.

finally, if you don't like the subject matter of this thread, feel free not to contribute to it.....

It's not as though I'm angered by it. I reread my post and apologize for sounding snippy... that wasn't my intent. I was trying to offer constructive criticism on making a credible poll that doesn't sound like it has a ulterior motive. I honestly came to the poll hoping that there would be a choice like the one I mentioned above, but was disappointed to find out that the only way I could vote is to gripe about DRM, which I'm not too concerned about.

Not happy but would prefer a complete patch instead of a facelift
I couldn't care less either way
I'm not bothered because I still won't buy the game until the DRM is removed

My answer would be : Happy to wait for a complete patch.

Don't answer any of them then. Whatever makes you feel happy.....I don't work for Ubisoft, my poll is hardly official it is purely for my own interest. My apologies that I didn't frame the questions quite to your liking, next time I will use MORI

I'm angry as hell! Also is hard for me to understand how come the community is so calm and many people can say "I'm a little disapointed". A little? Well, I would smash their lame faces. I fell robbed and insulted in every way by this amateurs, this company called Ubi is a bad joke.

How in the God name is possible that a major patch delay announcement is made deep into a topic in the german forum. Nothing else. Is there no shame or at least the minimum respect toward those suckers who bought their product?! These *****'s are completely ignore this community, they are a bunch of amateurs who fail to provide any quality in their products and services. There is nothing in this company that can work right, the PR and support is a complete joke and they fail to finish a patch because.. they have some "minor localization issues". I mean, WTF is wrong with this company?!?

One thing is for sure, from now on I will stay away from anything has the Ubi logo on it and I will strongly suggest my friends and anybody who have ears to do the same. These monkeys deserve no respect, as they constantly fail in respecting their customers. They only luck here is that SH is the only valid subsim around, maybe thats why this community is so calm and can accept any **** they blow on us. ******** them, bunch of amateur *****'s!

That's got a lot to do with the US based community team for Ubisoft. Now, had you asked how I feel about THEM, then I'd wanna smash their not-doing-their-jobs-at-all faces right in too. As far as I can tell they completely abandoned SH5 a few weeks before release. There's still pre-release stuff up on the UK and DE sites that are missing from the US site. They *never* post on the forums and their official posts lag behind by quite a bit.

But the game devs are doing things well so far.

Oh, and I didn't vote in this poll either, since none of the responses made sense for me. :O:

Do you realize that if this would be AC2 or any other top10 game, the community would be in huge flame? A game is a product and you payed for it. If this would be a free game, then yes.. there is nothing to complain.

To be honest, I'm not used with this kind of treatment as I never played Ubi games, except SH3 and that was ages ago. At Blizzard there is no way to have such a great disrespect against the customers and the community. I'm not used to be riped off by nobody. When I pay for something I expect quality and respect. Otherwise, I would go for the pirated version as I see no point to pay for nothing.

Actually, right now the difference between me and those who play the pirated version is.. I got + 50 Ubi points and - 50 EUR in the pocket. I'm I cool or what ?

It's funny but I used to play WoW a while back - till they dumbed it down and took all the fun out of it (IMO).

The blizzard forums were always full of "Blizzard you suck" and "Waaaah I want a refund!" threads whenever there was a problem with the server.

I was never that bothered as I knew that they were working out the problems and trying to avoid it happening again (much as the SHV devs are doing now)

Maybe it's an age thing...

I pre-ordered but stopped playing it soon after I installed it. I'm perfectly happy to wait a year for Ubi to finish with it and more finalized mods to appear (if they appear) before using it again. No sense getting mad over little stuff like SH5, save it for reality.

Blizz forums are full with 12 yo kids raging with "ai lost mai pet and i uant it bak nao" type of problems but hey.. it's a huge community and the kids playing WoW are overhelming. My favorite topics are always Wednesday when is the maintenance and the nerds come raging all over on support because they can't login :haha:

But, the serious issues are take very seriously, like account hack, login problems etc. In 5 year of playing Blizz games I never had any serious problems, that's why I'm not used with this crap Ubi style. I have the feeling that Ubi is a one man show. The developer, the suit, the driver and the support guy is the same person. If this is true.. yeah, I can imagine that keeping things under control is a bit hard :D

The only valuable thing in SH is this community and the moders. This site is really awesome and I really can't imagine playing any SH without subsim.com. Ubi should pay the people over here as they are pro in keeping this game on surface. Sad thing, they are always busy. There is no SH version without being bugged and in need of help. I never saw any other game so underdeveloped and based on the community help like SH is :(

I would not use the word 'glad' or "unhappy" in a description of my overall feelings toward the patch delay. If they had it done right and on time, then I would of been glad. Doubt they could ever make me mad over a patch though.
However, if choosing between two evils of "patch out and not complete and/or bugged" and "delayed" I would choose "delayed" every time.
In the grand scheme of things a week or even two is not going to upset me in the least.
So, not glad, not mad, just meh. Will play it as is or not at all until the patch comes out.

Everyone knows by now that I'm not buying it until blah blah blah, but I voted the "Unhappy but I'd rather have it right than have it Tuesday" one (I know that's not what it really says, but blah blah blah).

That's how I feel about all games and all patches, so my decision on the other thing doesn't matter to me. I want to see it patched, and I want to see it patched right.

With that thinking we should ask UBI to delay for a few months to ensure there is only one more patch released that fixes EVERYTHING. Let's set a date of 12/12/2011. That should ensure the patch fixes everything.

I disagree with your way of thinking. If the patch can't be done in time UBI should put more resources into it, not delay. WE paid good money for an incomplete game. They have an obligation to fix it quickly.

We know you're not going to buy SH5 and we know why and we don't care. Basically every post to the SH5 forum you've made has been you talking about not buying the game because of DRM. Point made. Move on.

I know for a fact that you've added a lot to the SH3 forums, but c'mon already, if you're going to post here at least put some effort into adding to the discussion rather than constantly saying you're not buying till there's no more DRM.

It's getting really depressing seeing a lot of great names from SH3 turn into nagging trolls because of DRM or bugs or whatever the problem-du-jour of SH5 is. SH5 players aren't flooding the SH3 forums with posts about how dated the game is or how bad the graphics are or how you can play it whenever and wherever you want... so why do we in the SH5 forums have to constantly be pounded with those kinds of posts?

And hopefully, that will remain a key difference between this forum and forums like the one you described. Most of us can deal with issues like Sh5 without going full-blown bonkers and acting silly. :salute:

Acting how then? How much patience can you have with these guys who are not able to drop on the market at least one finished SH game. It's not the first time this happens. SH3 was bugged - community was happy because at least they had a new SH game and all was waiting for moders to save the game, same with SH4 and now with SH5. From years now, every time is the same story, Ubi give us a broken game.. subsim moders will fix it. Ubi gets the money, subsim moders.. our respect. Now, how much patience this community can have?

And maybe the most bothering thing, there is a total silence on the devs side. Maybe my/our anger would be a bit lower if there would be some kinda communication between us, a patch delay would be announced through an official message.. u know, like: "Dear community, we suck so we can't deliver the patch on the date as we promised. Hans got drunk and he cannot finish the german localization right in time. We will deliver the patch soon as he get sober again, thank you for your patience". At least we know what's going on and we can have a laugh on it. The constant communication between the devs and the community should be mandatory in any serious company.

I haven't bought the game but for those who have the delay is prolly a good thing, giving Ubi time to fix more stuff.

The German magazine Gamestar writes in its latest issue, that an order has gone out of the Ubisoft headquarters in Paris to all the Ubisoft offices worldwide, to make no conversations, statements and interviews about current games and the DRM system with the gaming press and gaming forums.

They have an obligation to fix it quickly.i'll raise ur exagerration wiht my exagerration: 12/12/2012!!!!!!!!!!!!
