I HAVE TWO!!!
It happened this way (well, you know how it happened, but that's private, so shut up and listen):
I got divorced back in 1985. My daughters were six and three. I saw them all the time, so it was okay. I used to read to them all the time, even when they got older. But then they became teenagers and got lives of their own. You haven't really been shocked until your daughter, who used to say "Daddy, can I sleep over at Jennie's tonight?" starts saying "I'm going to a party. Don't wait up."
So my older daughter, Bethany, went off to college at seventeen and studied to be a math teacher. I haven't seen her since, but we've talked on the telephone a few times. I sent her a card for her 25th birthday, and she called me. When I asked how her little sister was, she said "Married." WHOA! That took me by surprise! Of course Michelle was then twenty-two, and her mom was nineteen when she married me, so I guess it was to be expected.
Anyway, I last saw Michelle when she was sixteen. On her 18th birthday I sent her a present and asked her to call me. She never did, so I started to live with the idea that they didn't want to see me for whatever reasons.
A couple of years ago I joined Facebook, strictly because Neal had set up a Subsim page there. I have several 'friends', mostly people I know from Subsim, though my sister is also a 'friend'.
This morning I came to the library and saw that I had a new 'friend' request. I always dread these things, because they're usually from someone who knows someone who is your 'friend', and I have no idea who they are. So I look and this one is from my BABY GIRL!!! She found me on Facebook and wanted to wish me a happy birthday. I left her a private message there as well as a public one.
She didn't label any of her pictures, so I don't even know the names of her husband or her daughter. Their son is named Isaac, which I know because one link took me to the photographer who took the pictures for his 2nd birthay. The funny thing is that Michelle looks very much like her mom did, and her little girl looks an awful lot like she herself did at that age.
