New to SH4 and help needed please

Hello ,I have just installed SH4 and used JSGME to install RLB mod.
When I got to Submarine school I get no crew and so I cannot operate the sub.
I am an old computer dummy who may have done something wrong so please help and advice.

What's RLB? RFB?

Do you have version 1.5 and have RFB and patches loaded. Did you see a different start screen from stock?

Yes I have got Gold Edition installed but not sure if I need any patches. I just installed from CD.
It gives me full crew without RFB on School mode but if I install RFB I lose my crew

Gold Edition is patch to 1.5 so you're good to go there.
Sounds like RFB didn't install right.

If you're using Vista or Win7 don't put the game in Programs Files folder but in a separate game folder, this causes problems for some.

Be sure to run everything as administrator.

Don't use the default GU.exe to launch the game.
Make a shortcut for SH4.exe.

Be sure you have the right RFB for 1.5 and the RFB patches.

I am on Windows XP.
And I am hopeless at techy stuff, I installed what I think is the latest RFB mod.
I have just tried it on Career mode and it only gives me 7 crew members.
At least it is easy to deactivate RFB through JSGME.
Think I will have to stay with basic game for now.

Bill did you try to move crew from the right side of the crew page into the empty slots?
Haven't played RFB yet so just a guess.

If you're going back to stock I would suggest Webster's Game Fix Only mod GFO, fixes a lot of smaller things with the game.

Might also give TMOwtw TMO,with training wheels, a try.
It's a full TMO but a little easier game play.
A big improvement over stock.

Thanks Magic, RFB gave me no crew at all so could not move any.
Have just posted about TMO downloaded TMO and patch but not sure how to use patch. I know I use JSGME for TMO mod.
Great to see so many helpful members in this forum.
Just done navigation lesson and torpedo lesson, sunk my first warship, real happy about that.

You install the patch just the same way you did TMO.
