I've been playing in the PTO with RFB and RSRDC at 100% realism/DID. I'm on my third patrol in March 1942. My patrols have been pretty quiet overall. Reading recent postings on this board others talk about a lack of action also. I stay in the appropriate shipping lanes whenever possible. I started out based in the Phillipines to begin my career.

I'm considering starting over as a U Boat captain (heavy previous SH3/GW experience) in the ATO.

Is there more "action" early on in the ATO? More "fun"/"challenge with the ATO super mods?

Or, should I just try removing the RSRDC mod and continue in the PTO?

Should I just give the my PTO campaign a chance to progress?

If I switch to the ATO, using JSME can I just move my current PTO mods to inactive status (left side of the screen) to get back to a pure vanilla SH4 1.5 and then d/l and activate the ATO mods...is it as simple as that?

Don't know about the ATO. I wouldn't play without RSRD as I love all the large 50 ship convoys and realistic battles, but it cuts down on the constant spawning convoys, still I play the entire war and almost always in battle with large convoys and TF's.

You may want to try TMO 1.9 without RSRD. TMO use to use stock traffic, but Ducimas reworked a lot of the traffic, not anything like RSRD, but he corrected a lot and you'll still see action.

I've played RSRD a long time so I know where most of the traffic is at what time, but it's positive are all the early war invasion forces throughout 41-42, many large invasion fleets of 50 plus ships will invade several nations. You get radio messages for some, many you don't, but if you know your history and watch the movies between port of whats coming up, just head to that nation.

If you play the ATO make sure you load OM...

Once you get the first version SJ-radar you'll be looking at a lot more action, that's guaranteed. Patrol with the radar on near one of the major shipping lanes and you won't ever have to return to port with unused torpedoes(well, until things get quiet in 1945).

If you want to start up a u-boat careerr it'd probably be best to do that with another install of SH4. Just disable all mods, copy-paste the whole SH4 folder, use MultiSH4 on the new installation and done.Failing that you'll have to delete most of the stuff in My Documents\SH4, to prevent left-over files from screwing up things, everytime you switch around the major mods. It becomes a huge pain in the ass if done often.
