If you were not the Captain... what crewmen do you think you would:
1). Most likely be.
2). Wish you were most like.
And why?
Example: My Answer
Most Like: I think I would be most like the cook. Not taking into consideration his bio; but his position. I think I'd love to make all the meals for the guys; bring some satisfaction and happiness in a dreary day/world.
Wish Most Like: The XO. Supporting the Captain and being able to motivate the men of the ship to push past their limits and to accomplish amazing things they didn't know they could do before.

Need an XO job? I've an opening for anyone who'll replace Dieter the Reticent!
The Cook IS the most important crewmember in the unmodded game. Need "INSANE SPEED" and the engineer's down in the dumps? Backtrack to the kitchen and request a, "Special Meal." Hack...'s never too depressed to do that - and everyone gets cheered up immediately!

Most Like: Bernard. Definitely Bernard...
Wish Most Like: That guy who gets to sleep in his bunk all day and all night, even while under attack and the ship is flooding. Yeah...I want HIS job.

the one crying in the corner hoping not to die. knowing what i know (the hole like 80% mortality rate) I'd be scared crapless.

... I'd be scared crapless.
That's GOOD as there's only one crapper available...

Agreed. Not a nice way to die either, the boat slowly filling with water, and no way out.

Isn't Dieter the WO? :hmmm:
I'm most like the Navigator, older than the rest of the crew and not interested in saying much.
The little guy driving the torp!

I'd be the torpedo officer.
I'd accidentally break the torpedo rudder so it would be stuck all the way to the side and then tell the XO to talk to the captain because "I had this great idea...!"

I picked up a book in the Memphis airport two days ago on my flight back to Arizona about the USS Tang and how it's last torpedo was shot and it went crazy and looped back on them, hit them.. and sank them. I'm half way through the book now to where who got out of the sub are out.. the rest of the book I think is about capture and the POW camp.

You must be reading "Escape From The Deep" by Alex Kershaw.
Fantastic book. Read it a few months ago and it's really well done.
It's been optioned and I believe they're in pre-production of a film adaptation so...you know...really, keep your fingers crossed that they don't butcher it. I'd hate to see such an amazing story, with such unbelievably courageous men done in a way that doesn't do them justice.
Hollywood has a shaky history with this type of thing. I'm in that town and industry and even I'm worried.

Yeah, that's it. I was going to quote the title and author but I didn't want to get it wrong. I left the book at work tonight.

I'll admit that when I read it, I was at first only interested in the first half involving the actual operation of the sub and command of O'Kane. But I promise, every bit of the story is worth reading. Absolutely amazing story.
Anyways...What crewman would you be? :D
Most Like: Bosun.
Wish Most Like: WO.
I can't imagine myself joining the army in a war, but if I would do, then I can't just stay in the corner and hope all will end soon. Going out in the field and kill other people with a gun in the name of a flag is not me, so most likely I would search for a management/tactical role. Keep the order and things run smooth :smug:
Later edit: lol.. what a coincidence .. actually I'm a Bosun on subsim.. yay !
