Hi all, I'm posting for the first time here. I need a little help, and I couldn't gather much info about my question from the SH3 Noob Guide thread.

Right now I'm playing vanilla SH3 and I'm wondering where can I find a list of each nation and the date/side they entered the war on. I have researched actual WW2 facts and dates but cannot narrow it down to an actual DAY. Usually I just see a month or even something as vague as a year. Anybody who can point me to a good list of dates when nations in SH3 become legitimate targets?

I'm currently tailing a Dutch vessel in late November of 1939, grid AN82.. Constantly updating my solution, with my finger on the button.. but I don't want to commit until I know for sure they are hostile.

Welcome aboard http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/welcome.gif

If I were you I'd simply go straight over to using GWX3.0 where you will find the adversary dates using F1.

You're fast! :DL

That sounds pretty awesome, although from what I hear, it requires much more computing power. And honestly my game gets choppy just leaving port in vanilla. I'm working with a 2.1GHz, 1GB ram, and onboard 128mb geforce 6250. Other than harbor lag, it gets great frames at open sea, but I don't think it will handle GWX.

Doesn't the Flaggen book shows the entire date (in GWX3)???

GWX comes with an optional mod to lighten harbor traffic.
I play GWX on a laptop from 2005, a Dell Latitude D820 (basic business laptop). This laptop should not be able to run really any game at all, but the only time I lag is when im on time compression above 128, and loading ships and convoys. The only time that I actually had too much lag to play was when I had 4 modern tankers bellowing massive amounts of flames and 20 something other ships in the background searching for me with their searchlights, all I did was turn the scope out of that view and it was perfect.
Give GWX a try, its truly worth it.

GWX was designed to run on comparable specs to SH3 vanilla/stock.

I had similar experiences, lagging when large amounts of smoke were on screen.
Turning down the particle density in the options screen cured it for me.
May be worth a shot :DL

Thanks for the info guys, I'm definitely more confident in trying the mod now. I downloaded the PDF manual for GWX and located the very useful dates page. Its exactly what I was looking for, and I also managed to fall in LOVE with all the other features mentioned in the manual. I'm gonna quit underestimating my computer and just give it a try. My friend/foe problem is solved now, but for those who are interested, I'll leave a recap of my first attempt at career mode. Started straight away with every difficulty box ticked except for stealth meter, until I learn how the AI behaves, then that'll be getting ticked in the future. :DL

I've only had the game for a week, but I'm already flingin' eels with deadly accuracy (thanks to some awesome manual TDC guides and improved charting tools); first 2 patrols I didn't see a lick of action, then 17000+ tons logged so far on 3rd patrol, over half of that tonnage was scored just a few hours before the dive at dawn (I love those last minute scrambles before sunup). But on my way back to port, I got pinged and obliterated very fast just off the Southend area with nowhere to go (scope depth, with 5m under keel in a tight little bay). I'm debating on whether or not to restore my mid-patrol save, but I might as well start fresh with GWX. Naturally, those 17000 tons came AFTER the gamesave.. :wah: A whole gametime-week logged for patrol 3 with NO results, followed by a single productive night, then I'm dead by dawn with 12000km of fuel-range still in the tank. C'est la vie.

To answer you precise question. Take that finger off the trigger if its Nov '39 :timeout: The Netherlands is still a neutral country until the summer of '40
