Man that's such an amazing film. And that scene is so intense it makes all the parodies even funnier. Tasteless maybe, but so funny. :yeah:

If you're interested, the film is called "Der Untergang" (The Downfall.)
It is an amazing film. VERY well done. The actor who plays Hitler does the voice so perfectly, it's creepy at times. I felt it did a great job of just telling the story without adding any political/patriotic propaganda to it like so many WWII films do... it didn't necessarily make you feel sympathy for him (maybe for the people around him), but it also didn't paint him out to be the 7-headed demon we're taught about either. It felt very documentary-like.
The only reason I knew about it was because of these parodies (The first one I saw was the one where Hitler finds out Michael Jackson is dead... I was giggling off and on for hours.) I'm glad I checked out the original, though. Germans know how to make movies WAAAAAY better than the tards in Hollywood.

I agree it's an awesome film - although I felt little sympathy for Hitler, I felt loads for the German people who were going through hell because Hitler wouldn't surrender.
Well worth a watch in my opinion.
It's already boring, is the most used clip on YT for ages since the original movie was released. There is no game, event or whatever in this world which is not already covered by him.
So, this is my favourite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqqxRPZdfvs&feature=related

The actor playing Hitler is Bruno Ganz. Many people think it's Anthony Hopkins as he did a similar role in the TV film The Bunker (was that only shown in the US?) Mr. Ganz was born in Switzerland and currently resides in Zurich. By the by, he turned DOWN the role of Oskar Schindler!

this has been posted in over 6 threads already in the last few months, its cute but this forum is not here for posting general BS and funny stuff just to amuse yourselves endlessly. general topics is where all this stuff belongs.
think about it guys, isnt it time to just sit down and shut up about it already?
i am right there with all of you in being 100% against DRM but at the same time you are now just being a bunch of butt heads trying to spam the forum with negativity so nobody forgets to not like the game.
there is nothing wrong in responding in a post with your opinions but to continue posting and reposting stuff for the sole purpose of being critical of sh5 should have some point to it beyond the protest.
like it or not when you arent posting with questions or comments directly related to the game itself and not the DRM then you are just trolling.

This really hasn't been a "bash SH5 thread." Sure, the video makes light of the situation that we're all tired of hearing about. And yes, it's been posted many times. But nobody here is doing any bashing. The conversation has been mostly about a great WWII film.
I'm tired of the constant bashing too. But that goes for both "sides" of the issue. I lurk around here to learn as much about the game as I can before I buy it. Lately it seems like the very mention of DRM results in an immediate backlash... which is no better than the original situation. The OP obviously didn't know it had been posted here before (how do you really search for something like that?). It IS pertinent to SH5, so the SH5 forum seemed like a logical place to put it.
If the thread had just been "I hate SH5. It's broken an DRM suxxxx!!!!" then your frustration would be completely warranted and I wouldn't be typing this.

Yes I think it would be wonderful for all negative posts about SH5 to stop so Subsim can share the responsibility for suckering the innocent into buying a game they will hate. Great thinking there!
If Subsim's policy is to keep the truth from people entering the forum looking for information that will help them decide whether or not to purchase the game, then Subsim becomes equally guilty as Ubi in cheating those people. Complicity is just as culpable as the act itself.
In the final analysis, the only way to finally get the submarine simulation that we want, need and deserve is to make it crystal clear that SH5 ain't it, and to continually communicate that fact in threads that stay on top of the heap so that new arrivers at Subsim are not taken by surprise by what a turkey SH5 is! Only the non-success of a fatally defective product will clear the deck for a good one. What you are willing to pay for, you will receive more of. Pay for failure and do not be surprised when you receive even more pitifully weak products in the future. The language of persuasion is money. Pay it and you are signaling approval and encouragement of the behavior you are paying for. Withhold it, but jingle it loudly, making it clear exactly what you are willing to purchase, and you are signaling that something better needs to be offered.
Those are the only two messages that have any effect. Anything else is just ineffective.
Jingle! Jingle!

The part that got me in that movie is when they were giving the cyanide pills to the children... and the freakin dog.
Apparently Hitler had been given the cyanide capsuals by Himmler. Because Himmler had tried to "overthrow" Hitler and surrender to the allies, Hitler had to make sure that the capsuals worked and hence , fed one to his favorite dog Blondie.

Well, it was first time I saw the clip and I laughed my *** off. Great find I say. I'd also like to say there was some great acting in that clip. Especially when Hitler reaches to take off his glasses. Simply classic. Eventually, I'd like to see the whole movie.
And Rockin Robbins (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/member.php?u=230011), great post on put your money where your mouth is. If they don't like the bugs, then don't buy them. It is exactly why games have so many bugs now. Because the game publishers know people will still buy them.

i didnt "fling poo" as you put it
(removed an incorrect statement from this line)
my comment here wasnt really directed at this specific thread, it could have been any of a dozen threads but the message is the same, cant you guys please treat the forums and your fellow subsim members with more respect then that?
i asked for the people to please make posts about the game in a forum created to talk about that game, how that can be seen as an unreasonable request escapes me :06:.
by the logic of some, i should then be fine and none of you would object if i were to fill the sh3 forum with 150 threads about sh4 just because sh4 has subs in it too so its related to sh3 discussions or how about 150 threads about WOW because its related since its about war too?
i get it, you want to vent, you want to protest, you want to prevent others from enjoying sh5 or the forum created for sh5 users to post in, well your opinions and stand on sh5 is clear and nobody, especially me wants you to not post your comments but please do it within the context for where it is you are posting. if you cant see how that effects others, or maybe you just dont care, well then i thought better of you then that.
every last one of you would scream bloody murder if you liked this game and owned it and then saw the forum filled with 70% opinion or BS filled threads instead of threads talking about the game itself.

And "flinging poo" is my expression for things like name-calling that usually lead to arguments. Saying "you are now just being a bunch of butt heads" is considered name-calling, as far as I know, and also against the rules.
I agree with your sentiments about thread pollution, I just don't agree with your delivery of those sentiments. This thread would be better-placed in the "general" section, even though I can see how the OP would have thought it reasonable, and therefore shouldn't be scolded so harshly.

Ok...
Guys, I made this Hitler video as a joke about a month before release - arguably at the peak of the DRM OSP anger issues.
i meant for the video to be funny, enjoyed by many... and to serve as sort of an inside joke for the subsim community.
It's my first hitler video, and the first upload to youtub i ever really expected would get much attention, and im glad that it did.
but a couple of things you have to realize...
1. The creative inspiration for this video came from the fact that NOBODY save maybe 2 people had nice things to say about Ubi on the date this thing was created.
2. This forum is huge, with new members joining every day... and with many members that don't visit frequently enough to notice it had already been posted a hand full of times.
this video is always going to be "new" to someone... so i think we can all expect it to be posted at least a few more times until the DRM thing settles down.
while i agree that the DRM thing is over discussed with negativity... i also know that the original poster of this thread only wished to share something he thought was funny... not start a flame war of sorts.
I think the best idea, is to just step back, take a deep breath, and realize the above enumerated comments are truth.
With all due respect GR, I don't think this has anything to do with your vid. It's all about the DRM and/or problems between a mod and poster. Funny clip though!

First, I wasn't attacking Webster. I was attacking the idea of silencing people making reasonable negative comments about SH5 on a fairly regular basis. I stated that it was because although most posters have been around for awhile and have read the negative opinions before, that is not who the negative posts are directed toward.
Silencing the negative posts about SH5, just about every one of them well deserved, on the grounds that it's been said before causes the negative posts to fall down the posts list until in a few days it's on page 3, buried by all the Pollyannas. (They too, are repeating themselves and don't seem too upset by that.) Then a new person considering purchasing the Titanic (SH5) comes on the board. "Look at all the positive comments! Subsim is highly thought of and obviously loves the game." Then he buys the game, based on this false picture of a total travesty posing as a submarine simulation.
Can you understand how cheated he will feel? Can you understand that he will put the blame on Subsim? Can you see how Subsim would completely deserve the blame? Why would Subsim want to participate in giving the finger to the entire crowd of submarine simulation fanatics?
Subsim has a responsibility to be straightforward. SH5 is a game with serious shortcomings in its playability. It is not a submarine simulation, it is a deeply flawed role-playing game--badly designed and executed even more poorly. The DRM removes your fair use right to sell, lend, give away or assign your copyrighted purchase, a unique violation of everyone's normal personal rights almost everywhere in the world. In some European countries that is illegal. The DRM leaves you at the mercy of Ubi's willingness to operate it's paltry three servers to serve the world, that alone demonstrating the depth of contempt they have for their customers.
Failure to keep that message up front and center to new arrivals at Subsim is a gross dereliction of duty. Making posts that codify the policy of silencing critics of the game serves to make Subsim responsible for a conscious policy of denying the public the information it needs to make the proper decision as to whether or not to purchase this game. I care about Subsim. That policy endangers Subsim's future existence. If people don't trust Subsim to tell the truth, then they won't be here.
Subsim may be a nice place for old-timers to chat about our games. But that isn't the most important reason for Subsim. The most important reason is to be a gateway for people new to naval simulation, to inform them accurately as to the playability of the games, and to help them get involved and keep them playing the good ones.
When we sacrifice the most important function for the relatively unimportant irritation of the old-timers reading an opinion more than once, we are being very foolish. Shame on us.

Dude, after all is just a game and this part of the forum this is SH5 context. Therefore vents/complaints/bugs discovery/frustrations by those service owners and potential service owners/workarrounds/drmXits have been in context of SH5.
btw this seem the only thread where complaints are collected, all others are created by SH5 service owners venting their frustrations and solutions so lets get some prespective shall we?

I installed a 'Hack' and got the Triumph running.
:yeah:
Strange thing is?
It now runs backwards!
:hmmm:
You must see me riding down the road, backwards,
screaming my head off!
:o
Did I install the 'Fix' Wrong?
:haha:

Not sure mate :hmmm:
My triumph works fine even without gas (aka net connection)
If you follow to the letter the 5 steps that are in the readme you won't get into trouble. Ah! btw it is not a "hack" it is a "DRM mod fix".
Well,
Youtube has pulled the video, so I guess that takes care of that:
This video contains content from Constantin Film, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.

I find these companies crying copyright on YouTube quite.. idiotic.
If anything, these little clips of movies inspire people to actively seek out and watch them. As numerous people, here, mentioned they would. It's great, and free, advertising.
Yet another company's selfish short-sightedness blinds them.

Kinda like when Budweiser threatened to sue the guy who hosted .mp3's of all their "Real Men of Genius" radio commercials. He was getting about 70,000 hits per day... giving tons of free advertisement exposure to Budweiser... but instead of thanking him they threatened to sue for copyright infringement and he was forced to take the website down. AFAIK he wasn't making any ad money on the site, either... it was just there for fun.

To be honest I'm a bit tired of the "Hitler memes" anyway. So if they pulled the lot I wouldn't be too worried.
They were funny about 2 or 3 years ago, but a bit so so now.

Never saw anything before the clip so for me it was brand new. Even though I don't own SH5 all I can say is two words....
Spot on!
Yeah, this was the first time I ever saw the movie/clip/parody in any form. Cracked me up.
Even if it wasn't SH5 related it cracked me up how they matched the subtitles with the scene. Art.

All Hitler parodies have been pulled from Youtube citing copyright enfringement. This was a story on MSNBC or CNN a couple days ago. I read the article and the irony is the director of the original movie has found all the parodies to be very funny and enjoyable.
