View Full Version : sonarman silent and watch officer x-ray vision

the sonarman wont give me any contacts even when i ask him but the watch officer will tell me that he has sighted ships and theres smoke on the horizon when i'm 40 meters under. :damn: All that when i know there are ships less than 6 km away.

any fixes or workarounds for this, its starting to piss me off.

The only time I've had the WO read out contacts under water is when I'm using the "total revealing" special skill - otherwise I've not had that problem so I cant really help you there.

If you allocate promotion points to you hydrophone operator he actually gets quite good at spotting stuff.

Have a look at the mods forum and see if its been mentioned at all matey.

my sonarman is fully promoted and yes i was using total revealing so that might be it, really weird. so i use total revealing and the sonarman stops working, great! :woot:

Yeah but you should get all the contacts on the map - pretty much the same as if you were on the surface eyeballing them?

So in theory you don't need him reading out the contacts?

what gets me about the sonarman when you click on him , there is no way to ask him for contacts, yes I know I can hit buttons Z and X for Merchant and Warship contacts, but it does take away from the feeling of the game that there is no way to ask him to if there are any contacts about.

Same with the WO , Im on deck and I click for him to Man the Deck Gun , after the ship is sunk and I click on him again , there is no Secure the Deck Gun I have to toggle the F5 key or whatever one it is or dive to get the Gun crew back down below.

doesnt work, i see some targets for a bit but not all of them not even the ones which are very close.
