View Full Version : JSGME norton security issue
Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong spot, secondly I'm having trouble instaling JSGME due to Norton 360 virus scanner. From what I've seen/heard JSGME is needed to succesfully and easily mod SHIII, however whenever I try to install it Norton says "SONAR has removed secruity risk jsgme setup_no1" restart immediantly to ensure the safety of the computer.
Could this be a a serous problem or is this just norton being a b!Tc# as usual?
Any thoughts, suggestions, comments or advice is always appricieated.

Where did you download JSGME from?
Did you download it from this site?
If not try this link instead.

If you still continue to have an issue try adding JSGME to the programs exception list. What this will do is stop Nortons from scanning it and thinking that it is a virus of some sort.
As I can honestly tell you the link above to the program is virus free.
Furthermore when Nortons expires. Perhaps look at using a different security program and one that is alot more efficient than Nortons :).

I have Norton 360 and have installed JSGME at least a couple times with no issues. Downloaded it from whatever link is in the sticky thread for it over in the Mods forum. If you got the program from another source I'd try redownloading from the above link or another one provided here, to be sure what you're getting is legit.
Not sure what else you could check in Norton, I didn't have to make any changes there to get a successful install.

Norton is well known for being 'picky' about trusted files and programmes. It is also a system hog and a bugga for taking control of your computer.
I agree with CybaGirl.....get rid of asap because there are better programmes out their and some are free.
...Norton is just a soggy old hound - drooling all over the place, i gave up with it years ago...
at present im on Bitdefender and its ok, has a game mode to, to lessen memory usage.
i used AVG for a long time and had no issues with it.
Norton was always pleased to tell me it had found a virus - then was unable to kill it - remove it, anything....
...like a cat bringing you a dead bird, then leaving it in the kitchen untill you manually remove it yourself...
Thanks for all the advice guys.
