Has anyone been able to get SH5 to run on a laptop and if so can you list your machine's specs? Thanks.

I don't have a laptop, but remember, you'll need to be connected to the internet at all times in order to play.

Core 2 Extreme X7900 @ 3.0Ghz

Runs ok, but crap inside the sub regardless of settings.

Plays fine in&out of the sub 1920x1080, 2xAA, low shadows on:

Asus G73jh-tz008x

Intel i7-720m 2.8ghz
8GB 1333
Win7 Ultimate x64
Ati 5870 1GB video

...until the 3g internet networks get congested in Australia in the evenings, then the DRM bends me over.

Just make sure the fullscreen option is on and all is good.

By default it was 'windowed' (though there was no frame so u couldnt tell) and whilst the game ran smoothly, the mouse cursor was jerky as hell making it unplayable.

I've left off the high detail sea, 3D Clouds, light shafts and caustic sea settings, but to me it still looks pretty stunning - baring in mind my laptop must be right at the bottom spec-wise. In fact the "You can Run It" test site failed my cpu as being below minimum spec. I still got it though as Amazon were selling it for £12.98 and I thought it was worth the risk at that price! I'm really glad I did 'cos I'm pretty darned happy with it, and it runs far better than I had dared! :D

I run SHV on my laptop nicely.

HP DV8 1050ES

You can see the specs HERE (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/es/es/ho/WF06b/321957-321957-3329744-64354-64354-4011373-4055258.html)

Works fairly well with around 15 fps inside the sub and around 30-40 outside all settings maxed except shadows that I have them off.

Well, I'm just in the process of buying a new laptop,

Is there any real advantages between the Inter Core 920XM 2.0GHz(3.2GHz with turbo mode, 8mb cache)
Or
Intel Core Quad QX9300 2.5GHz (12MB Cache @ 1066MHz)

Is either one of these better? what about for gaming?

many thanks on any insight you could share

I dont have a laptop, but on my old computer at our cottage, I have been able to get SH5 to run using my blackberry as a modem and using the wireless network. The signal out there is faint, but SH5 does not appear to need a strong connection to work.

You can do that? Use your blackberry as a modem?

Please... send a link or some info, thats awesome! :salute::salute:

you get a software cd with your blackberry and a USB cable to plug it into your comp. On the cd is a program called "desktop manager" I believe.

When you open the program and the Blackberry is plugged in, you get several options, one of which is to connect to the internet by using your Blackberry as a IP modem. Its very easy to figure out.

It works fairly well, you can surf the net, but downloading/uploading large files is not really practical.

Justin- My brother has a Macbook Pro and would love to run this game. Is it viable? And just how does he need to install it? He is a techno luddite, even if it is with Apple, lol.

For your sake, I sure hope you have an, "Unlimited" wireless plan!

Thats how I play it...I first tried it with Vm Fusion, but the graphics were crappy...I then used Bootcamp (Come with apple computers), loaded WinDoze (XP) on it..and play SH5, 4 and 3 ....No probs at all...(I also have it loaded on my Mac Pro desktop with a bigger monitor, which I prefer...) Works great for me, especially the sycn games, so I go where I left off no matter what puter Im on...
If you want help with the specifics lemme know...We'll get it going for ya...:yeah:
