Ok.. i've had this game under my thumb for awhile.

I played sh3, and 4 and when this one came out I knew I wasn't going to even look at auto aim.
NOW... I've had no problem hitting big slow lazy merchants and tankers.. but I'm bored.

So I decide to load up a history mission, the one in which you need to defend the ally sub from three enemy dd's. I can't land a single shot and they cream my poor buddy way to suddenly for me to do ANYTHING other then launch four fish, and miss and then wave my hands about to try and distract them from ripping him apart..

so am I just unlearning how to fire.. or is this mission super hard.. I loaded it up six or seven times and the only thing I managed to hit was my allied sub with a torp because a dd hit the accelator and got outta my line of fire as fast as it could.

I've noticed the AI in the Historical Missions, as well as in MultiPlay Missions online, is a LOT tougher than the AI in Campaign mode. Also, aircraft in Historical and MP WILL attack you!

I don't know why Historical and MP is more challenging. Has nothing to do with hostiles getting smarter as the years pass in Campaign mode. I'm nearly at 1942 and the DD's are STILL dumber'n a box of rocks and I routinely watch Dieter wave at passing enemy aircraft as they fly overhead without even HINTING they may be interested! We replaced both flak guns on the conning tower and, "Wintergarden," by the way. Top level, we replaced the gun with a barbecue grill. Down below, at deck level, installed a picnic table where the gun used to be. Comes in handy when we wander into a Task Group of RN destroyers as we can watch 'em parade by while we enjoy our latest, "Special Meal."
