It's July/43 and I'm patrolling the Marshall Isl in a Balao class boat. RFB and RSRD used. My plan was to sail close to all the atolls hunting for supply ships transiting the islands. My efforts were not wasted. Nearly every atoll I visit has merchant shipping sitting at anchor in the bays. The problem is I can't get anywhere near these sitting ducks because of the subnets / reefs surrounding the area:damn:

The only luck I've had was a single freighter I cought while in transit. I thought about shelling them with the DG, and even read reports of such happenings. The problem is alot of these islands have fortified shore installations that could turn my boat into Swiss cheese:o I could use a few ideas here. I must have passed up about 20k tons so far.

Yours truly,

Very Frustrated!:wah:

The nets/reefs only go down about 200 feet. Find an area where the net/reef goes over deeper water and slide under. Some nets/reefs run to small islets and usually end about 50-100 feet from the land. That's tricky however, because some don't leave you enough depth to slip past on the surface at night and some have gun positions.

Take your time and ride around...you'll find a entry point somewhere. Knowing RFB he put them in historic positions so a search may be in order.
Then you'll have to run decks awash sometimes due to shallow water to shoot torps...Even at night those surface guns will blast you so stay down as much as possible.
