Just ended my 5th patrol in Fremantle, and promoted to Korvetten Kapitan, sinking gross 46000 tonnes of Merchant/Warship (this patrol) and NET tonnage 214,000 tonnes.

The bigger fish was a King George V battleship.

Funny I found her with an American Fleet Carrier at Fremantle.

I decided 35000 tonnes was worth the 8 Falke torps I fired than the mere 10000 tonnes carrier.

One thing stupid of me though, was I fired 4 Falke at a target, only to find them shifting direction to a ship humping the docks...

and I was like grrrr. I was stupid to equip the WHOLE sub of Falke/Zaukonig (PURPLE HEADS) combo, not even having some decent G7e improved as reserve.

As I ended patrol, some message pops up after my 1st class Iron Cross and puts me in choosing to commandeer a new boat, or continue with the extisting VII, I said Yes, and I became Capt. for U-796 type XVIII experimental boat.

That was one big assed boat, but sadly, no aft tubes, so If I'm pursued by escorts, bye bye Zaukoning homing fish striking the heart of the followers..

But for a bad boat ,

23 Bow torpedos in 6 tubes that's easily 4 sets makes a HUGE difference in reload time and operational efficiency when a convoy has been reported thanks to the pre-installed Balkon Gerat RWT:yeah:

I will set sail tomorrow, and will keep you posted as delve deep into the ocean, and scour the horizons for heaps of metal bound to be relics of Davy Jones ;););););)

It has been a long time since I played vanilla and thus a walter boat. I do remember that you can't complete some missions. The walter doesn't have the same range as a D2. But grats

If you're playing stock 1.5 then its a IX-D2 long range uboat, not a type VII.

Here you can read about my resume on the german boats in SH4 (klick (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=150274))

Thanks mate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt the Walther boat too higher than the VII? I mean in very shallow waters, the periscope depth would cause it to rub the belly with the sea bed, right?

Maybe I cant change boats further, but this also means that port attacks on say, Scapa Flow, Fremantle or Columbo would not happen?
