View Full Version : Why only primary flak gunner works?

I was in a VIIB Sub in mission "Brest",during an anti-plane combat,I assigned 2 gunner to shoot approaching enemy planes automatically.
But,during "F12" view,I noticed only the primary(upper) gunner is shooting at planes, while the secondary gunner didsn't do anything even when enemy plane approachs!(See Pic).
and, while I switched primary/secondary gunner with F11,"secondary flak gun" appears on the right conner in both P/S Flak view.(see Pic)
I'm curious about those 2 phenomenons,
will somebody would explain this?

How high above the UBoat was the plane? maybe your gunner's gun had reached its maximum elevation? Its only a rough guess but it may be the cause.

Three things:
First of all, there is a bug in SHIII where flak gunners will not start working until you manually man their battle station and then exit the station.
Second of all, you must tell your watch officer that they may fire at will at enemy aircraft.
Third of all, your men manning the station must have sufficient fatigue reserves. If they are "too tire", the station just won't function, even if you manually jump into the station.

Yup...you need to cycle through them. What I do is, I have the WO order the flak guns manned. Then try to spot the AC in the binoculars and order to fire upon the plane at will. Then hit the space bar to get the yellow pointer on the target (not so easy sometimes). I hit F11, fire manually if I can then hit G to the other gun and do the same. Then you and the AI gunner will fire...or..go back to the WO with the binochs and keep it in view. But you do need to cycle through both gunners. As was said, make sure the gunners are healthy and not too tired.

No one can. It just doesn't work. Go to www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) and set up an account there. It's easy and it's free. Then you use their 'Upload' function to put your pictures there. Lastly you copy the picture there and paste it in your message. It's easy.:sunny:

Go to the first gun position and fire a few rounds then return to the bridge/conning tower (NOWHERE ELSE) then to the second gun position and repeat the process exactly.
This is an age old fault that has never been resolved.

I'll have to remember that trick.
If I ever get to a boat that has more than one flak gun.:dead:

Remember? :hmmm:
At your age you'd be wise writing it down on a pice of paper :rotfl2:

I didnt mean the actual height as in metres above the UBoat, rather I meant the elevation, was it directly above the UBoat?,so if you imagined a protractor line from your eyes to the sky the plane would be at zero degrees ;)
