So, after a week of searching and a couple of campaign restarts, I finally find the carrier Im looking for. However, the thing is moving so damned fast, its virtually impossible to catch it. Then stupid me goes and fires off a few torps at it, I miss, and save the game and restart. Of course, now when I reload it the escort ships detection zone completely encompass my sub whereas before i had at least 500yds of buffer between their zones and my ship. Fab-yoo-luss...:damn:

So, since I can only go 15kts max speed and the convoy seems to be able to go 17kts, how in the world am I supposed to get around to flank them?

Reload to an earlier save and get into position early so it passes you?

where did you find the carrier?

I found mine in the English Channel, surrounded by a DD screen.

Reload an earlier save, the carrier shopuld still be where you found it and then get in front of it. Alternatively, surface and stay out of the destroyers detection area, apply flank speed and get in front of it or intercept at 90o angle

where did you find the carrier?

I found her on the west side of the search area in the middle. I hadnt saved my game so it looks like Im gonna have to hunt him down again. But, my actual question was if I pop up behind the convoy and cannot seem to move fast enough to outrun them, how am I supposed to sink them?
