Must say, the only reason i'd buy a Nvidia card would be for the PhysX....

Another series of cards that just have a increased performance at the cost of a ridiculous input of psu and cooling requirement...
I do not want a bloody thing that is like a V8 engine in my case.

I've been a long time fan of Geforce. When I switch from matrox to the very first Geforce cards I never used any other. My old man used to use them old ATI all in wonder cards back in the early 90's. I never was impressed with them.

I stuck with nvidia for many many years. This spring was an awakening for me. I never thought nvidia would screw there people there trusted fans.

First with there crappy driver 196.75 which burned cards.. They removed it off there sites so fast because there forums were loading up with pissed off users whos cards ether fried or had overheated and artifacts errors.

There are plenty of articles in nvidia's forum for sources if you doubt me. (http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showforum=33) Unless they've been deleted? :nope:

Then I hear that the GTX400 series is a joke. A weak and broken card. Some articles I've read today that disturbs me with nvidia's wisdom they have not!

Nvidia forces clients to buy there old crap before they can get the newer better stuff.

Me too with my trusty 9800GTX+ . . . I no longer buy as many games as I used to and somehow not interested in most recent games that are coming out except a few and I only intend to buy a new system next year. . .for the love of windows 7.

Elsewhere, it will be interesting to see how (if at all) AMD respond to the launch of the GTX 460. They still have the upper-hand at performance-per-watt, and with just how similar the GTX 460 and the Radeon 5850 are in terms of die size and power consumption there’s clearly some flexibility on their part to change things. The Radeon 5830 must come down in price or go away entirely, it’s what happens to the 5850 that’s the question. We’ve seen the GTX 460 lock horns with the 5850, and while the 5850 is undoubtedly the faster gaming card the $300 price point no longer makes as much sense as it once did with a $230 1GB GTX 460 below it. AMD either needs a 5840, or a price drop on the 5850 to bring its price more in line with its performance.

At the end of the day NVIDIA has created a very powerful card for a market that has been overlooked for most of this year, and right now they’re setup to benefit from it. The GTX 460 is well priced, well performing, and cool running - 3 qualities we haven’t been able to attribute all at once to an NVIDIA card in quite some time. With launches and pricing like the GTX 460, the competitive landscape that we enjoyed through 2008 and 2009 is finally taking shape once more, and we couldn’t be happier

lol, you mean 100F as a temperature? its usualy in the 30s,but it is summer. if I turn the fans up some more it goes back down.

Shader clock and core clock are linked. Try overclocking the shader and check if the core clock goes up along with it.


I'm happy to hear you enjoy the 480, but not everyone wants to burn that kind of cash on a single card. 460 1GB really hits the sweetspot in pricing and has the performance to be worth it. ;)
