The only wrong thing here was the AoB. AoB angle is where you will see the sub if you look at it from the ship, or from what angle your torps will hit the ship. So your AoB should be somewhere at 48. As far as I know, this angle was not so important and in most of the cases was only a raw estimation. Is more important to be on the right side of the target :ping:

LE: The stadimeter is not broken in SH5 ? Usually I use the ruler for range, stadimeter always gave me wrong distances..

thank you for your insight man..

infact i noticed that the stadimeter isnt working at all after all..

its a pity since i love to use it..ruler alternative is a great option though

I think it's 'O' to get the clock up.

Nice video but why are you making as many plots and measurements? Mark the target on the map, use the stopwatch, mark it again after 3 mins and 15 seconds. That'll give you course and speed. Plot that, turn to suit for the AOB you want, put your scope to zero, input the AOB, speed and range into the TDC then wait to make the shot at your desired impact point. It's made even easier (with less plotting and measuring) if you use any of the TDC interface mods and a simple AOB Finder. Keeping your scope DOWN is the secret of success. Pop it up, identify and make the first mark. Put it down till you're at the 3-minute mark. Take your next mark at 3:15 and put your scope DOWN again. Make your turn, zero the scope, enter the AOB, speed and distance to your selected impact point. Once the target is close, pop your scope up, correct for distance if necessary, pick your spot and shoot then get that scope DOWN again. Once they fix the AI, keeping your scope up any longer than necessary will get you creamed

Medzell, your tactic is for map contacts off, the clip is made for those with map contact on. I agree is a bit too much drawing, you should be able to set all the data you need from any angle and with more speed. When you are about to hit a convoy, there is really not much time to draw and all that, speed and precision is everything.

But speaking about manual targeting... is there any way to target without the damn "lock/space" button? I mean, is there any way to fire from under water, with the scope on minimum? I know where my target is, I know his speed, direction and all I need.. but the game dont let me fire :nope:

It's probably a lot less drawing then normal. Normally I'll place the ruler at the back of a ship, then extend it forward along it's path. It's ALWAYS wrong after a while, meaning I have to constantly keep adjusting and moving the ruler mark. If I had just placed 4 X marks always at the stern of the ship, I could just draw one line that would be a lot more precise and I wouldn't redraw it all the time.

Using stock, no, since you don't see the TDC info unless you have it locked. Using something like DarkWraith's UI with TDC dials, sure, never have to lock unless you wanna see the keel depth or something.

Hmm.. problem is that I don't wanna alter the stock UI because I like it just as it is. Hope that a patch will deal with this problem, is really stupid to not be able to shot without to lock on target. Also would be nice to shot on 2 targets at the same time, my xo should be smart enough to be able to track a target on map until I work on other target. Going wild in middle of a convoy while surfaced is impossible without pausing the game :/

Your XO keeps track of identified targets, so should keep range, speed and AOB info, though if you're set up correctly it should be the same for all your targets.

You are really missing out on a LOT of useful features and hampering yourself when it comes to being able to do things in game. You should really rethink not using mods. DarkWraith's new UI looks and feels like the stock, but is about eleventy billion times better. "Stock Silent Hunter" always sucks. :)
