I live on the N. Atlantic coast. Today we are having a storm and it is pelting rain sideways, cold March rain. Meanwhile in the sim I am in a storm too. Wild. I have adjusted my course to find a pocket where we can ride at 10 knots and not have the sea engulf the sail. The guys on watch are in slickers and the sea is not drowning them and we are making headway for a intercept. Below I am dry and having hot coffee! I had to go outside in real life and secure the deck chairs from the E. wind. The sea is grey and roiling. I put on my RL sailing slicks. The wind is raging from the east as it is in the sim. Wow! I love storms.

I hate storms. Half the time I'm sailing around in them hearing the sonar officer say, "Captain, can you see them yet? No? Well reach over the side of the conning tower - you should be able to touch them!"

Nothing like the elements to remind you who's really in control,I love a good storm, they are magnificent and make you feel humble :03::salute:

anything which helps to sneak up on a convoy with lesser probability of being detected immediately in late war is fine.
thus I like storms!

I couldnt agree more nik, thunderstorms are fantastic, you can actually feel the energized particles in the atmosphere around you.Must be even more profound at sea!

It is still storming, about 55 non-stop hours now in real life. Driving rain. Howling wicked wind. Raw. March is going out like a Lion. I am going to strap myself into my bunk and read a good book. LOL
In sim, I determined we could not intercept so rather than beat the men to exhaustion I ordered her to make 33M depth so we can get a good night's sleep, enjoy some food. We'll see how she is above at dawn. Batteries are full, cookie has some hot potato soup he is ladling out. Music is piped through the boat. The world is good.
