Hello all:salute:.
How can I put sonar torpedoes in IXB 1944 in multiplayer???:06:

I don't think you can, as far as I know they are only in the Typ- VII boats in Multi.
I might be wrong, I often am.

As far as I know these torpedoes are carried by XXI in its cargo and by IXB in tube 5 I think. Why you don't just unload the torpedo to put it in stock and then put another in its place. Then you will have unlimited sonar guided torpedoes.:yeah::salute: And see you on our boat admiral Chris.:salute:

Standart torpedoes are fine

But why would someone do that????

For the pure entertainment of unleashing a volley of guided torpedoes into the side of a convoy, of course. :)

Yes I know that I drive a XXI. But If you have an IXB then you surface an kill the targets with the deck gun.

And sonar torpedoes are really sloooooooooooooooooooooow.:cry::cry::cry:

And really dangerous to your pack-mates, if you're in MP.

Yes once I trhew a torp to an enemy escort who was after my mate. Then he stopped the engines and the torp went right onto my friend who was at flank speed.:D:D:D

Aye, seen it done and been guilty of doing it myself on more than one occasion :03:

And once the sonar torpedo didn't work properly. I launched it to a convoy and it was confused it started to run in circles.

convoy hunter
04-11-10, 02:11 PM
Why sonar torpedoes are useless from great distance??

convoy hunter
04-11-10, 02:12 PM
I mean when they reach 1000 meters then they just are like normal torpedoes.

convoy hunter
04-11-10, 02:24 PM
And they usually miss

Jimbuna
04-11-10, 02:53 PM
That could be because the speed of the target is not fast enough....check the working paramaters of the torpedo, one version requires the minimum speed of the target to be 12 knots.

convoy hunter
04-12-10, 07:37 AM
I usually attack convoys who are at 5kts speed. And the majority of these torpedoes works fine

If it's something like the Falke then it must be luckily pointing in the right direction after it becomes armed (400 metres).

convoy hunter
04-12-10, 07:51 AM
I always shoot above 500 meters distance from the target

Jimbuna

I think that it gets confused because of the strong esorts engine and he large of the mehant

To answer lordofdoom's question IXB has one sonar torpedo. It cannot take more in mp. Make a good use of her.(the topedo i mean)

lordofdoom

Normal torpedoes are better.

lordofdoom
04-18-10, 04:43 AM
and faster.

convoy hunter
04-18-10, 04:43 AM
they are faster

lordofdoom
04-18-10, 04:44 AM
and they dont hit your teammate.

convoy hunter
04-18-10, 04:44 AM
but you should hit the target from the abeam

lordofdoom
04-18-10, 04:44 AM
much faster than sonar torpedoes

convoy hunter
04-18-10, 04:45 AM
and they dont hit your teammate.
hey can if your teamate is still

lordofdoom
04-18-10, 04:46 AM
its not hard to hit the target from the abeam.

convoy hunter
04-18-10, 04:47 AM
it depends

lordofdoom
04-18-10, 04:47 AM
if he is still you can tell him to move.:arrgh!:

convoy hunter
04-18-10, 04:48 AM
if he is turning then you have missed by 95%

lordofdoom
04-18-10, 04:52 AM

can sonar torpedoes kill yourself?

Jimbuna
05-15-10, 10:56 AM
Never tried it personally but I suspect the answer is yes....I know in MP your team member can use them effectively against you.

convoy hunter
05-16-10, 07:21 AM
not if I use them agist them

convoy hunter

Sunk myself with a Falke. :wah:

I tried to shoot a speeding tanker that was fallen behind due to convoy zagging. A DD was closing in and obviously distracted the torpedo. The depthsetting was to match the tanker, therefore the DD was safe.

I was at periscope depth watching the DD and short before it was over me I wanted to secure the periscope. I could see my own torpedo in the water heading for my stern section.

It was a perfect hit - all hands lost. I have a screenshot somewhere.

ive had them go after my decoys before, lol

those torps have saved me a few times

i was able to release them at 50m, then dive down quickly while ships were right over me. 1 minute later 2 ships blew up and they all scattered. it was my last ditch attempt at staying alive though.

sonar torpedoes are usually red at the front. they were something extraordinary for WWII because they could follow an enemy and a wolf (sub) did't need to take a perfect position to hit a ship.

06-13-10, 03:57 PM
they are electric as far as I know the do as much as 30 kts and a max depth of 25 m.

There is no need to 'mod' them into your career. At the appropriate date (If you are using the Grey Wolves Expansion.) they will become available to you in your office menu between patrols.

ZK2's are really perfect for self-defence. But his speed is around 23 knts, and nothing more. My usage is mainly, if I'm spotted. The Destroyer comes often toward you at a speed over 30. My tactics are, I let him come straight against me, full abeam.(Crazy Ivan). ZK2 armed, running depht to 2.5 meters, and at 2000 meters distance I release the eel. At this very moment I dive to 19 meters and all silent. As soon, as the destroyer does not hear your noise anymore, he will slow down trying to spot you again. Meanwhile, the torpedo closes in on him, eventually he passes by astern, but will now make a turn and will home in on the destroyer, which is actually at a speed of approx. 16knts. The eel WILL hit him. Most of the time, propellers and rudder are blown away, besides the big hole at the stern. Sometimes the destroyer does not sink immediately, but at least, he is no threat for you anymore.
So far my experiences wit accoustic torpedoes.
