Does the engineer actually repair things that are destroyed as part of his special abilities? I'm 70m down with no electric propulsion, no compressed air and no compressor. Will he repair the destroyed things over time or should I re-load?

Yep!! Sorry meant to post "Destroyed" systems which is the correct option. Don't know why I wrote damaged!:damn:

How is it supposed to work?
When I go to the Subsystems screen I can click damaged things and there appears an animated repair icon. If I click something else, the icon goes away. Are things still being repaired then?
Also, things get repaired without me telling the Engineer to "repair destroyed systems". If I do tell him, he always says "Unable" but the ability gets activated nevertheless (countdown starts) :hmmm:
Is there a way to slow down the repair rate? Usually things get repaired before I even have the time to open the Subsystems screen.

A real problem with the game is that if the boat comes under fire and has to crash dive, the engineer tends to get injured so is unable to repair the systems, so you basically fill up with sea water and croak.
I think systems repair themselves automatically but the engineer can speed up repairs with his special abilities.
This said, he has an ability called repair destroyed systems which can take 5 days plus, never waited around long enough to see if he does actually repair destroyed kit or not

This seems to be a real problem. If the engineer gets hit (which he will on the surface), you're finished.
Any way of making petty officers 'immortal'?
