Hey everyone :yeah:!!
I've recently downloaded RFB and I'm loving it !!
Just as a quick annecdote, I messed around with the training missions to try out the interface, and thought I was ready for my campaign using RFB/RSRD :
After my first assigment, I went on a reconnaissance mission in a harbor (forgot the name, but its on near Luzon), and on the way there (about 10 minutes after having started playing), my crew spotted a plane, and thinking I was close to the home port and it was probably a friend, didn't bother diving. Before I knew what was going on, a Japanese bomber dropped his load straight on top of my sub and flew away. Helpless as I was, I soon realized my sub was going down... like a rock...
After damage report, and a quick nip in the external view... I noticed the two huge impacts which had completely obliterated half of my hull :damn: and showing off that beautiful machinery (I'm guessing the ice cream machine ). Needless to say, I couldn't do anything, but I was still very impressed with the improved damage system!!
Guess I'll be more carefull next time :D.
Anyway, that is not what I'm here for. The issue is that I seem to be experiencing ocasional and un-explained jerkyness in SH4, which seems to have a bigger impact now with RFB. Although I don't have a clue what can be causing the problem, the symptoms are basically that the game runs smoothly, but ocasionally, after switching between stations, the game will go into really slow mode ( < 20 FPS ) for no reason. The only way I have found to get it back on track is to make the camera go crazy, and go over and under water several times til it goes back to 60 frames and more. Note that when this happens, all 3D views (not the maps) are affected equally, as if the framerate was clamped for a short period of time.
I run it in 1280x800, with all options activated (with some tweaks on the harbor objects, particles and LODing since I spent most of my time "indoors", or at sea. I have tried lowering the settings, but it does not seem to affect my issue.
It is getting really frustrating since it happens randomly, and can really break the atmosphere (I'd rather have it run slow all the time, than going from 60 frames to 10 frames in a matter of seconds)
I highly doubt my desktop is the reason for this, it is not the best of the best, but should be fairly sufficient for a game like SH4. Here are the specs, would you want to know : Intel Dual Core 2.2Ghz, 2 x Geforce 9800GX+ (SLI), 2048 MB of RAM.
Like I said, the game runs smoothly most of the time, but every now and then (like every 10 minutes or so, if not less), it goes into slow mode. I do not have any antiviruses, or softwares running in the background, since my computer is not connected to the internet, so I'm guessing its coming from SH4.
Has any of you experienced that problem? If so, how did you fix it?
Thanks in advance :arrgh!:!!
