I have been after an exhaust mod for a while now and came up with this apparent gem using the search function.I was wondering,is it fully compatible with GWX3?

Works great and IS compatible with GWX, I been using it for ages now :DL
p.s. The order that you install/enable your mods is kinda important too.

I have read its important to enable the single exhaust AFTER the main mod itself?
Anyway,thanks for your confirmation :up::up:

yes, it works fine with GWX!
and I always installed the super-mod immediately after the clean install of SH3 (patched)

Cant wait to see the exhaust smoke coming out of my UBoat, although that will be on my next patrol :yeah:

I have a small concern with the exhaust element of the mod.Would this increase the chances of being spotted in the distance due to the smoke trail behind the UBoat? does the mod alter settings to incorporate this?
In real life I imagine the problem being even worse with the schnorkel, for even though the UBoat would be submerged using its diesels it would still be throwing black smoke out, potentially giving its position away to the enemy? :hmmm:

As far as I know, and I could be wrong, but sub diesels didnt generate a lot of smoke. A thread on here some months back covered the subject, I have no idea how to find it though but I'm sure it was more a feint blue-ish cloud that dissipated fairly quickly.
The mod doesnt affect your ability to be spotted as far as I know. Its just a cosmetic thing, but well worth using for the eye-candy aspect :DL
A boat running with a Schnorkel is more likely to be found by its wake or just the Schnorkel sticking out of the water anyway. Late radar could detect a scope sticking out the water.
I could be incorrect though but I'm sure someone will come along with actual facts at some point. :salute:

Can you post a screen of the exhaust smoke in action?

No problem, I'll get one sorted in a bit, I've just found a lone british merchant and its asking me to send it to the bottom of the sea ;)

Was difficult to find a view where the exhaust could easily be seen, its quite feint when viewed from the side.

I love this mod! You know you'll also get the waterstreams out of the vents in the outer hull, in addition to diesel exhaust. It looks very cool.

I saw a youtube video that had the vent water, and wondered how it was done.
Makes me wish I used external cam.

Compatible? It was made specifically for GWX3.
From my own personal setup.

There was something in there about removing the big compass from GWX? But then I saw it in one of the later screenshots.
Okay I love the big compass rose, and I use it a lot to fine tune my bearing, but the way it slides out every time my mouse wanders over to that side of the screen gets really annoying. That also happens a lot and sometimes at very inopportune moments.
If there is a way to have it easily accessible but not sliding out all the time "by accident" I would love to add that to my setup.
Please advise!

The GWX compass is taken from FLB_Sales's 'Simfeeling 6-Dials' mod, which makes everything including the bottom bars a slide-out. The first time I installed it I ended up with two compasses (compi?), one of which didn't work and blocked the one that did!:damn:
I had to go back and remove the GWX one before I could install the other set. Like I said there, it took quite a bit of fiddling before I got it the way I wanted it. Now that it's two years later I've made a few changes to that setup, but the basics are still the same.
As far as I know there is no way to make the compass less sensitive. You have to either live with it or take it out.

Bummer.
I'm getting to be like you, though, where I keep fiddling with things and wanting to add new mods every other day and so I end up starting over just so I can test-drive everything.

Yep. As soon as I can play again I have to start over from scratch, just for the new Wilhelmshaven harbor mod. I hope they have Kiel ready by then so I don't have to do it twice.:dead:

But it never ends, new stuff just keeps coming along!
I just put in the SH5 water mod, still trying to decide between that and the M.E.P. mod (I think that was the name) that I had just put in before that. Like them both, deciding is hard!

I use the Water/exhaust mod and I haven't really noticed a difference in being spotted more easily than before. So...I'll go out on a limb here and say "no".:D

I just installed the mod and I have to say I am very impressed, particularly with the volume of diesel smoke relative to engine speed, and the direction the smoke moves relative to wind direction is also a nice touch
Some of you guys should be working for Ubisoft with your skills.

The really visible smoke doesn't seem to go any higher than the conning tower already sits above the surface anyway, so I wouldn't expect it to compromise the boat's "low profile." Seems to dissipate before it would become an issue on its own.

True,it is actually lower than the conning tower, especially at high speeds as it seems to get pulled into a longer and lower stream behind the UBoat, instead of straight up.
Just one thing,I installed the single exhaust on top of the main mod as indicated in the readme,so would it be normal to actually see TWO streams of smoke either side of the UBoat?

IIRC there are two mods in that download, the first one is for the dual exhaust boats and must be installed first, the second "single exhaust" mod gets installed over that and is sort of a patch that adds the fix for boats that only had one exhaust vent and should not be producing a double smoke trail.
If you're in a Type VII you should see two smoke trails, you'll only see a single exhaust trail if you use the Type II (I think) which is what the second mod does but only for the boats that need it.
All the info should be in the readme file or other documentation that came with the download.
