EA get stuffed. Atm its aimed at console players wont be too long before pc gamers get the same deal. Remeber your be downloading a ''PREMIUM'' demo geewiz that must be worth it then. Pay $15 bucks for a demo that wiill have 3-4 hrs of game play. :har:

I don't care i would never pay for a demo, give me the demo for free let me try out the game and if i like it then i will purchase it. Otherwise its who cares at least we got $15 out of you sucker!

After an investor visit with Electronic Arts, analyst Michael Pachter said that the publisher is planning a strategy that will involve selling "premium downloadable content" before a packaged game's release.

According to a Monday investor note from Wedbush Morgan's Pachter, Nick Earl, general manager of EA-owned Dead Space studio Visceral Games, revealed the new strategy.

Pachter wrote, "The PDLC would be sold for $10 or $15 through Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and would essentially be a very long game demo, along the lines of 2009’s Battlefield 1943."

He added, "A full-blown packaged game would follow shortly after the release of the PDLC, bearing a full retail price. Mr. Earl believes that the release of the PDLC first limits the risk of completing and marketing the full packaged version, and serves as a low-cost marketing tool."

Pachter separately told Gamasutra in an email, "I think that the plan is to release PDLC at $15 that has 3-4 hours of gameplay, so [it has] a very high perceived value, then [EA will] take the feedback from the community (press and players) to tweak the follow-on full game that will be released at a normal packaged price point."

Sheesh, now you pay to beta test. At least give a credit for the full game you helped debug.

:-?

Paid demo, riiight. Let's see how that works out for them.

Sticking with PC, thankyouverymuch. Considering the console gamers have to pay for the stuff you get for free on PC already anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually swallowed this.

Better model would be to take let'S say 25% of the levels of a game and release it as a demo for 10$, and if people like it, they can get the remaining 75% of levels for not 40$ but 30$. However, I have an allergy against buying downloadware. I want a solid DVD that eventually may need internet for activation, but operates without needing constant internet access. If I can burn the download to CD, and need no constant connection, then eventually I go for it. But I prefer a factory DVD any time (it has also a better resale value).

Evil Arts strikes again. I wonder if their management has some kind of reward for whoever can come up with the stupidest ideas that could be implemented by the company...
