I posted before that despite all the BS with this game, I loved it. When I had a feeling that the only boat to get was the VIIC, I came on here to check, and sure enough found this thread.. I must be honest.. I think I'm done.. There will be nothing to look forward to, nothing new.
I am so disapointed. I went and pawed somethings (broke right now) just to get this game.. I wanted to be excited about it, but I don't think I can.
I don't understand how they can go backwards.. When part 2's 3's and so on of a game comes out, they usually keep the same things as the previous game and only add to it, make it better..
I really thought this would be like part 4 but with the added bonues (walking around inside, the RPG and so on)
NOTHING!! It got worse, they added things then took away things!
Why would they do this? Why ruin what could of been a great game?
I'm so sad I could cry! Seriously!
Whats funny is they go through all this stuff to prevent stealing, codes, online internet required. Yet you COULD EASILY DOWNLOAD THIS GAME AND PLAY IT!!!
in anycase, I am going to put down this 50 dollar game for a while.. I'll check back in a month and keep on checking.. But I think I will still be upset :(

Instead of a new post , I'll tag along on this one.
I just got my new boat  Is it a VIIB , it does not say and if it the B version looking at the SH5 site it says the C just had a few adjustments with the same engine layout and power but it was bigger and heavier which also made it slower and less maneuverable.
If that is the case , is there any point in taking the C boat when it comes along ? or do you have to take it to get to the C/41.
Thanks.
ps .. Game missions = Happy Times the last 4 times I've went to get to the patrol area ( HT sink 10 ships or the other one 200,000tns) I run into a convoy on the way there. Q? Do I ignore them and just go to my patrol area , clicking on the 2 cross icon on the map does 2 things mission data in terms of sinking ships 1 = 10 ships 2 = 200,000tns and clicking on them brings up a marked shaded patrol area with a red line to indicate the shipping lane.
I take it , that to get mission "points" or to complete either the sink 10 ship one or the other one sink 200,000tns has to be done in the marked shaded patrol area? And any ships sunk outwith that marked area does not count towards the mission goal
If that is the case , then I think its a bit silly as I take it no Uboat captain would pass up a ship or a convoy so that he could sink others in his marked patrol area. And if that is the case , it does I think take away from the game. I know Im just getting started with SH5 and I know there are issues with the game, but leaving those aside, I don't get that same feeling when sailing out of port to go to war in SH5 as I DID in SH3 even straight out the box.

Walsh, I too have passed targets of opportunity just to sink ships of lower quality in my "Patrol Zone". This, besides the idiotic A.I., is the biggest gripe I have about the game.
I am more affraid of my own ships in port ramming me than I am of the Royal Navy, something ain't right.

I guess there will be more boats in the future. As long as you have a credit card I mean. Perhaps even the whole war will end in '45 and not in '43 someday?

You guys are forgetting the VIIC/41
So playable submarines are: VII A, VII B, VII C, VII C/41

I mean, I know we have great modders out here. But to be able to play with Boats like IXA and so on or XXI you need to Model all the Interiors of those typs. And who is able to to it? I think even for the Romanians it was a lot of work. (Maybe thats the Reason they released a "Battle of the Atlantic because UBI was pushing?) I remember one project where a guy here was doing a machine engine room for Silent Hunter IV. That was a lot of work. I donīt expect that we see those typs in the next 2 years or sth. To much work. :dead:

I'm pretty sure, in-game, it is all the same VIIC model with slight changes like the addition/removal of the wire-cutter.
According to U-Boat.net, the VIIA, VIIB, and VIIC were all different lengths, but in-game I think it is all the same fuselage. Sort of sad considering the VIIB is about 2m longer than the VIIA and the VIIC even longer than that.

Correct. I think they even reused the same interiors for all the subs (save for the electric engine compartment of type VIIA).
Looking at historic photos, there were several changes in the interiors going from type VIIA to type VIIC. Equipment was constantly modernized as the war progressed.
There's enough photografic material around so that modders could reconstruct accurate interiors for types VIIA/B/C
