After all of the bad reviews I read, maybe I was expecting a horrible game.. But about 3 hours or so into it and I can honestly say, I LOVE THIS GAME!

I searched but with no luck.

How do I get the guys to GET OFF of the deck gun? Once their on, they never leave.

Also, how do I adjust the rudder myself? I got the dive and speed down but need to know how to turn this ship, without using the map! Thanks

The manned deckgun is a bug. you have to dive to get them off in the stock version. Or man the gun yourself and then unman.
As regard to the rudder, there's no wat to control other than using the lest and right keys for 1 degree adjustments.
That is unless you install one of the dials mods that brings back the sh4 dials to control speed, depth and rudder.

To unman the deck gun, order your sub to surface, they'll jump right off.

The default game only has uselessly small rudder changes (arrow keys left or right) or drastic ones (Shift+ Arrow keys left or right). There are some mods, like DarkWraith's 3 Dials mod, that add back in the compass rose and Rudder display though.

You can also simply look in whatever direction you want to go and use the +/= key (next to backspace) to Heading to View.

Glad you're enjoying the game, it's quite fun once you get past the negative comments! :)

If you started them firing with the spacebar, tell the UZO-Man to man the deck guns, then tell him again to secure the DG - works for me. There are also the other workarounds posted.

I didn't play much before I started adding mods, but when I want to un-man the deck gun I click on the watch officer and the option is there. Is that stock or is that a mod? I'm not sure, but try it....

It's stock, but if you've fallen victim to the all too common morale disappearing after reload bug the option simply won't work.

love this game btw, and have had no real problems with the deck gun untill my last mission, i had lunched all my torps at a convoy and as the torps hit some ships i ordered extreme speed ahead, and went in with full guns blasting to finish off some of the ships lol.
one ship opended up on me with a big gun so i dived to periscope depth, when looking through the scope I could some ships still being fired at by someone? went into outside view and there was my guncrew, underwater and still firing the gun and getting hits lol.....once i had pressed F5 they went away, but a big bug for sure......

I do hope they get a new patch soon to adress some of these bugs?

I ask the officer of the watch in the conning tower to "Secure Deck Gun" and that un-mans it (most of the time).

I've never failed to order them off the deck gun, but what I have noticed is if you man the deck gun with the spacebar in binocs, then the Watch officer acts like he doesn't know and gets 'out of synch'. You have to tell him to man the gun, to get him back into 'synch' with reality, then you can tell him to secure the gun.

Extreme speed, ugh, I wonder who is responsible for such nonsense. :har::har::har::har::har::har:

The devs watched 'Spaceballs' and changed it for a laugh, but then forgot to change it back again.

yeah not sure why they used that really? should "AuB kraft" "voraus" on the u-boat speed telegraph, meaning full power, forward, or full speed, ahead?
but at least they have not gone the "flank speed" way.... ;)
