Now in Happy Times , I got transferred to Lorient 2nd Flot but still had my old Coastal boat yet I am supposed to go out and patrol out in the shipping lanes.

1st time I did , half way there I come across a Large Convoy, though not in the Circled Patrol Area for the mission, I attack. I sink 2 merchants and damage 2 others, I get a 3rd with my DG. I go back to base and end my patrol and pick another mission, same again I get near my PA when I spy another Large Convoy and get 3 this time. And same again when I get back to base and end the patrol I still have my old boat .. Same again I patrol round the area and get moved to another then another, nothing to see. I get contact of a Large Convoy to my South. Bottom Line I sink 3 DD and hit 3 merchants, I follow at a distance and of the 3 burning ship only 1 stop some 20kms from the attack. I wait until the rest have gone surface and 2 shots later down she goes.

I got back to the new assigned PA and do just that , some time into the partol I get a msg to end it and come back to base.

I had some 10+tns , in total from the start until just now ( aug 1940 ) I have sunk some 33 Merchants and 9 Warships all DD Total Tonnage - 521,525.

I go to refit my boat with torps , I still have the old A type ...

When do I get my new boat ... Do the Convoys I attack on the way to and from my mission patrol area not count ?

I would have thought if I was with the 2nd Flot and was heading Mid Atlantic oe near it I would have a new boat ..

What the ell do I have to do to get a boat with a better range and more fuel and torps ?

I think it's a date thing, not a tonnage sunk thing. Or maybe it's both combined. I got offered a new boat before I'd finished the first part of the campaign.

From what Ive seen yes base change is tied to date.

I once docked in kiel then departed from Williamshaven teleported to Williamshave because of the date.
