What is your point?
Ubi doesent tell the retailers what to charge for the product. The retailers have already paid for it.
Its called lowering prices to move stock.

I've said it before, the measure of success of a game is directly proportional to how much time elapses before you see it in the bargain bin. It took years for COD : MW to even get down to 20 £ and that was a GOTY edition. SH 5 has lowered price what 2 months after being published ? You can bet that in June this game will be 5-10 $/£/€. A true success. :O:

If it was flying off the shelves or there were not some other problem with the product it would not be reduced to clear or move stock, just a few weeks after its release.

Will it be the last Subsim made?

For UBI maybe yes, for others who pick up the sub simulation, I don't think so.
I'm sorry, but I can't feel bad about that, after UBI's latest gaming policies.

And don't discount the possibility that Ubi will see the light and fix the oppression. Always leave the door to redemption open a crack, even when the battle is joined.

Amazon UK prices are like a yoyo. Prior to release time SH5 LE was £40.99 on release it was £30.99 now it's £35.99 it's pot luck with them.

I bought it before the official release date for £23.85 from ShopTo.net. I just checked and it's now selling for £24.95. ZOMG the price went up - that must mean it's mega popular and it won't be long until it's £40 right?

Normally DRM is put in place mainly to delay the leak of the software onto the pirate scene to at least after the product is released. After that it isn't as important to the publishers to keep the software "protected" from piracy, that is why many companies "backs down" after a while and removes the DRM. It just isn't as important after those first few weeks.
In the case of SH5 we will see. It is much more of a package with synched saves and the likes.

...and the game's holding around $48 and change new. The reviews (46 of 'em!), though, are averaging one-and-a-half stars out of five - and the five star listed is titled, "Best DRM Ever!"
wonder if Ubi's listening - over even cares? My gaming session yesterday (Friday) was interrupted several times due to losing the internet connection. And it was definitely on Ubi's end!

I don't know where you work, but the average wage is nowhere near £22 an hour!

well I am self employed, but on the BBC news the other day, it said the national average wages was around £28k?
thats around £14 per hour....so the games is still only 1.5 hours work, or way less than a night out :)

Heh, that sounds like government propaganda to me. Most people are lucky to take home 20k a year, let alone 28k, and that's before tax. Hell, soldiers only earn around 17k, and they are risking their lives each and every day they are overseas.

The point is that SH5 isn't selling well (due to the economic depression, DRM, buggy half-finished reputation, etc). If it were, retailers wouldn't be lowering the price so quickly or so soon.

Download prices haven't dropped at all. More people buy that way then hard copies now. I wouldn't read too much into it.

That's true, but it doesn't seem like there's a lot of people downloading it. It made #7 on Steam's top 10 sellers list the week it was released - coming in behind Counter-Strike: Source - but it ain't up there anymore, nor is it in Direct2Drive's top 10 or, as far as I can tell, even being featured by either one of them.
Its metascore of 60 as clearly shown on Steam can' be helping it much. Its reader review score on D2D is 2.3 out of 10.
I'd say it's probably not doing so hot in sales.
