Hey guys and gals!
Would be very much appreciated if players of SH5 would be so kind as to let us know how the authentication servers fair this weekend.
Thanks ahead of time for any reports!
Hope the Forum Moderators do not shift his thread over to the compiled server issues thread before the weekend is out just so people can see the title and respond :)

They'll go down at least one day. Maybe sunday? Seems to be the norm as so far.

If they do go down on Sunday, I'm starting a new rumour...

I have NEVER had a problem authenticating with the servers, weekends and M-F evenings.

I live in Wichita KS (I know it's not my "location" but I forgot how to change it) if that matters.

And no I'm not impying that my lack of problems means no one else is having any. I'm just saying I haven't experienced this problem everyone else seems to be experiencing. However, given the rabid attitude against the DRM (No I'm not a fan of it either), I tend to believe the problems with it are exponentially increased (As any mention of a problem will bring in a dozen or more members adding their two cents about how they won't buy it as long as it exists).

Saving servers to a central location allows someone like me, who travels, and owns PC's in different locations to play my game in multiple locations. It's an odd "bonus" to the system.

Further I can't think of more than a few weeks in the past five years where I have been without ample access to a stable internet connection.
I haven't had a single instance of being without a connection when I needed one. I realize my situation is not common. I haven't purchased a game on physical media since 2005.

Never move to England then, fast, reliable, stable internet is not common. I have had to change companies 3 or 4 times in so many years, having two periods of 6 months without a connection. Furthermore, if you do have an outage, you are routed to India and fed the usual "Is the modem plugged in?" drivel by someone who barely speaks English. If you can't fix it yourself, you're screwed.

All internet based games were thus useless to me, not once, but twice, for 6 months at a time! The only reason I didn't go insane and shoot up my ISP's HQ, was my healthy stack of single-player games. Now, with SH5, offline play isn't an option, which begs the question as to why anyone in a similar situation (many places in my country, mine isn't the worst!) would buy a game with such limitations. Not exactly the best of business plans, when you're trying to sell as many copies as possible.

Case taken in point. I'm looking to trasnfer to Prague, Vienna or Moscow next year. I guess stable internet connections are something the yankees got right?

Yes, you've had cable far longer than any of us, Britain for instance only has one cable company. Even our cable is problematic in many areas, assuming they are lucky enough to have cable coverage!

Wow! I have 3 companies which can satisfy my TV, Phone, and internet needs. Gives a bit of leverage when one gets less than satisfactory service.

It's frustrating to say the least, especially when our idiot of a PM claims that Britain is leading the digital age! What planet is he on!

Best would be a graphic with green/red, each covering a full day from 00:00 to 23:59

A good picture is worth a thousand words.

Wouldn't happen to be (entirely/partially) owned government condoned?

If you're the only provider who gives a $hit about service?

Bit of a bump to catch the oceanic Sat evening crowd :)

Well, I'm glad the people who did buy the game in good faith are able to play.

Not sure exactly what you are going after here.

If you have the game then the answer would be self evident.

If you don't then this appears like you are attempting to start another Anti-DRM flamewar... aka trolling.

I am sure there is another reason I have missed?

Nah John, I think what he's going for there is that he wants this thread to stay separate just so that people don't have to dig through the "great ungodly thread of broken servers" to get to the information on how the servers fared this weekend specifically.

I have not bought the game because I am unsure about the extent of the problems regarding the authentication servers. I am hoping it was just growing pains for the first few weekends and that this weekend things would of sorted out.
The way to find out is to ask those who have been playing.
It is funny really, I feel somewhat insulted by it being insinuated that I could be a troll on the internet. Usually not a guy who take offence easily. Must be the whole wishing the game was sorted so I could feel good about buying it. No worries, just caught me as funny.
Anyway, do what you like with the thread, it really is no biggie.
