Ubisoft's forum mod has put up a thread on the official forums asking for post-release questions for the devs. Get to it!

Prior to the games release you had the chance to pose questions to the development team behind Silent Hunter 5, now that Silent Hunter 5 is out and many of you have bought and played the game I’d like to know...... if you could ask the developers just one question what would it be?
One question per post and member ONLY
I’ve no doubt each of you have many more than one question each so when posting consider your question carefully, review the questions posted before yours and try to avoid duplicates

It's BOHICA time over at the UbiZoo then. I bet it's a PR stunt cooked up by marketing, and the devs are loathing them for it.
How about we dream up a list of questions to ask the suits, and not the devs, over at Ubi? I would hold them responsible for most of the game's shortcomings.
I personally would ask why they felt the need to introduce a sleek, modern-looking GUI into a WW2 subsim.

That's assuming that they will answer your question Galanti. I'm leaning to the 'cherry picking' of questions, where they answer the burning question of what soup recipes will be released with the new patch.

My question is there and it's a doozy. I'd be suprised if it gets answered and if it does, it'll be telling :hmmm:

Sinking of named ships?
No. In SH3 merchants you sank were supposed to get names. It was never finished, but SH3 Commander fixed that, which led to my Ship Names mod. Dan told me in Houston that SH4 gives them names, but I've never seen it. SH5 was supposed to, but I'm told that it doesn't. If the functionality is there, I'd like to know how it actually works, under the hood, so I can think about the future of applying all the names I have.
Of course that has to wait until there are models for all those merchants, but I like to plan ahead.

Ironic that in the days of high-powered cpus and gpu we're still not getting all those little touches that add atmosphere and immersion.
Even better if you had to fish a life buoy out of the drink to confirm the ship's name, but now I'm being silly.
my question for the devs is simple...
Have they started developing another incomplete SH (SH6 perhaps)?
as bonus question...
When they start developing SH outside UBI claws and with modders community input?

Ask your questions over there, not here. :)
Also, people need to stop asking about the next patch. It'll come out when it comes out and we'll get a list of what it changes when it does. No sense wasting three questions so far on stuff we're going to be told anyway. :P

Well the last thing any of us should do is to ask something that belittles them, that can produce nothing but ill feelings between us and them and I can assue you we dont want that. They didn't make the decision to release it in an unfinished state, their bosses do that. And that is only in consideration of money, and the need to have the investment start making profit before they run out of money on the development.( if not already)
So my question was in keeping with my priority one rule K.I.S.S.
It was :
What are you working on(fixes or additions) for the next patch?
That I figure kept the question itself simple, and would garner the most info on whats going on right now and for the immediete future of SH5, we already know what's in it's past so asking stuff like "What were you thinking?" stands to produce nothing useful or informative, and it also contrbutes to offending them, and they already have plenty of that.:03:
And yes I already posted it over there.

When will the next patch be out ?
And will you do something to the stupid Ai in the begining of the war?
No worries SabreHawk coz I couldn't be bothered asking anything to put their baby faces red...
kylania yeah I'm not worried about paches either ;)
No Safe-Keeper and kylania it is the right forum alright; have been my home for several years and it simple cannot be compared with UBi's jungle.
Apologies for the rant but I couldn't stop it .. and I feel much better already for releasing some steam from my Typhoon second nuke engine :salute:

Just like in the song...
How does it feel...
I`m not going to talk with these guys like I don`t talk with liars: bankers, lawyers and salesmen.
A new game - no need for CD in the drive DVD? Bull...t! I got SHIV + UBM and I don`t need any CD in both PC`s.
DRM is a brand new system antipiracy? Type in Google and you will find a lot of links to... copies, copies, copies... cracks. Ironic?
SHIV lot of bugs...
SHV full of bugs...
SHVI... Just buy on-line DRM and than what? A movie postcard?
SHVII no more games, because pirates? Not too much sold SHV... because... Because the DRM system has failed.
One question? What does it mean? Last ask before... death?:har:

I take it you concluded I was speaking of you know what.
No rather I was thinking along the lines of the direction they took the game. Basically they got RPG in my military simulation. Not necessarly a bad idea unfortunatly it doesent work.
Also the moving away from a UI that worked well. I realize the decision was made to require personal interaction with the crew but honestly I dont want to have to get up from the attack scope, run down the ladder, find the xo just to order silent running.
At the very least make the old UI an option. Fortunatly the modders have made large steps in fixing that.
But basically my question is why 'fix' what worked?

I dont want to have to get up from the attack scope, run down the ladder, find the xo just to order silent running.I agree. As Captain, wouldn't you just shout your orders into those speaking tubes (I don't know what they're really called, forgive me) that go to every compartment (Thank Zeus for Skjwaser's Voice Recog Mod, which goes a long way towards modelling this.). In real life you'd be able to order a dive from the Bridge, without having to climb down the ladder first, right? I love that SH5 gives you the feeling that you're onboard a submarine, but the functionality (User Interface) has gotta be a realistic.
