CANCELLED!
The competition has been cancelled due to lack of interest. I'll see if I'm still around in 12 months time and whether I feel like running another one then.

Weekly bump to remind those interested in entereing to let me know they are interested.
Otherwise this year's fest will end up a fizzer.

Uhmm... doesn't this deserve a stickie? I mean CMOOON, with all the bugs in SH5 surely we can make some fun movies :haha:
It is stickied on the GT thread and in the SS events section. But if no-one enters then it won't be as much fun as last years event.
Don't forget there are some pretty cool prizes on offer as well for the winners. Last years best of the fest Mr. Fleck was awarded a Replica Kaleun's hat.

Is that picture possibly a Fairey AEW Gannet aircraft, "Tarjak?" I see the Austrailian markings, but, if a Gannet, do you know what carrier it came from?

I see the Austrailian markings, but, if a Gannet, do you know what carrier it came from?It is a Gannet from RAN Sqn 816 off HMAS Melbourne and the FAA Air station at HMAS Albatross. My father was an AE in both and acutally worked on this aircraft during his stint in the RAN.
I'm thinking of calling this off for lack of entries. So far I've received two entries neither of which complies with the rules of the competition.
It sounds like the bugs in SHV are causing problems and without having a set date for the release of the patch it may mean that we do not continue with the competition.

I'm thinking of calling this off for lack of entries. So far I've received two entries neither of which complies with the rules of the competition.
It sounds like the bugs in SHV are causing problems and without having a set date for the release of the patch it may mean that we do not continue with the competition.
You may want to extend the contest instead of killing it altogether. I, for one, have wanted to create an entry, but the current state of the game and the unknowns about the patch have led me to spend my time playing FSX and TOW:Kursk 1943. I am sure that I am not alone in my current disinterest, but have seen some really good user-made vids on You Tube that were posted shortly after SH5 came out...so I know there is great potential.
Perhaps another 45-60 days after the patch is released would be a more realistic deadline for the competition. That would give time to update any mods so that they can be used in the vids, as well as time to write, shoot, and edit any entries.
I am interested, though, when you say that the entries that you received were not in compliance with the rules of the competition...in what way were they in violation? I am sure that knowing where they strayed will save others of us considerable time and effort during filming and editing. Please share!!

:salute:One was about twice as long as the 7 minute limit, and whilst close, did not comply with the rule on the Subsim message in the credits, the other did not carry the subsim message at all.
There are other games that can be used, but I can imagine that there are a lot of people who want to use SH5 because of the characters in it.
I personally don't mind extending the deadline, but does anyone know when the patch is coming out and if so does it address the things that make it hard to make a movie?
OK the patch is out and it seems a disappointment.
Is there any point in extending this competition to allow for SHV entries?
If not then I will advise Neal that the Machinima Festival for 2010 will be cancelled.

Probably just some bad timing with SH5 being a bit of a dud. Anyway onward and upward. :salute:
I had intended to participate, but my day job prevented me completely. Sorry to know that no one else has been able to participate and the festival was canceled. A sad news, Tarjak. :cry:
