View Full Version : Game challenge
I think the mission game system : "you must sunk 5 boats here ...blablabla...until the 1march" is perhaps exiting for players of 15 years old, but for me its absolutly stupid and i dont whish to follow such orders long time
A moder must change this system, and come back to the sh3 system

There are people working on it. It will take time, though. Maybe a lot of time.
But I'm sure it will happen. Have faith.:sunny:
Why go back to the SH3 model when we can build something better? :88)
Nothing inherently good about the way SH3 did it...

I think one of the fixes the new campaign really needs is the ability to do patrol mission in between the campaign/objectives phases.
For instance currently if you finnish objectives really quickly you can no longer even request a mission so unless you just take the boat out for unofficial extra curricular activity there is notghing to do until a certain date kicks in the new phase of the campaign.
But what must the poor crew think? No mission but I'm dragging them all over the atlantic for the fun of it! :-)

Given the current state of the release I imagine it highly unlikely anyone will be able to sink 5 ships by 1st December, let alone 1st March.
Oh well, you live and learn i suppose. :salute:

Not tooting my own horn, but i finnished all Total Germany except "weserbung" by Dec 27th. I had to wait til March 1st for "weserbung" to become available. I was able to take th boat out inbetween but it just felt weird, and unrealstic because in real life the crew would have revolted. No official mission and their lives are being endangered for my pleasure. Just didnt feel right...

Agreed! "Patrol grid XXXX for 24 hours" is no more realistic than "Sink 5 ships by XX/XX/XXXX" I think a lot of people are nostalgic for SH3 and remembering it being better than it actually was.

I agree, the new missions are stupids, but the old missions in SH3 too.
A simple idea : maybe it should be possible to make the missions like in the reality. For example, patrol on a very large sector and sink as many ships as possible (except some case like the war ships on the beginning of the war for some diplomatic reasons ....)
But maybe somebodies have some better ideas :DL

I think SH3 missions are MUCH better than the ones from SH5

No, its exactly the good way, with perhaps sometimes something special, a big convoy... like in reality by the way !

I find the mission objectives too easy :haha:.
Sink 5 escort ships? That's for pussies. How about "sink 1 battleship and her 8 escorts". Because that's what I did on my last patrol :har:
What I find annoying however is that a few months into the war, I only need to sink 1 ship around the patrol area and then "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Come back to Base.. We miss you already." :haha:

:yep: I like the new system. It's not perfect, but you feel like you are part of something bigger.

There is still a whole war going on in between missions, go out there and sink some tonnage! I just hang out on the SE tip of the UK and convoy after convoy comes along to sink while i wait for westerboring. It is dec. 27 and i bet i'll be able to reload torps at base 3 more times before a new mission pops.

I sank a 4 ship unescorted convoy the other day. Wasn't that hard. Came in at an angle so my targets overlapped. Gave the two leading ships a 2 fish salvo each. flipped around, gave the closest the 1 fish i had out the stern, then turned around again, surfaced, finished off the cripples, and chased the last down putting holes in his waterline with the 88MM stock cannon of doom.
If you're worried about not having a mission objective.. .just take your pencil.. close your eyes.. and place a mark on the map.
Now go there and patrol for 24 hours. When done.. repeat the process.
p.s. Be more aggressive.

You know, the only reason to go to your asssigned grid in SH3 was for the renown. Most of the time you knew where the shippling lanes were anyway, so going to your assigned grid was a 24 hour formality.
Yeah yeah, off we go. DD54 grid.. got it.
tick tick tick *look at watch*, can we go yet?
Ok, all done. Off we go to DB98, theres a tanker lane to hit there that needs my attention....
yeah i dont worry about the "mission"l area much. I tend to stick more to the campaign objective's.
I've got more renown then i can possibly use so completing the mission goal aint a big deal. I'll draw a 200km circle around it & every now and then i'll drive through it. If i find something near it ok.. if not thats just fine too.
