Hello all

I've a problem with gramophone and radio. The volume is very low and the sounds are almost inaudibles.

I've no problem with the others sounds in the game. Only with the gramophone and the radio.

I've tried to install a mod ("Grossdeutscher Rundfunk"), but it's the same thing.

Somebody has this problem ? Is there a way to correct it ?

Thank for your help :)

I have a similar issue, but for me the radio is loud! it drowns out sounds, i want it sort of in the background.

Can you control radio volume independant of the game volume?

Yes radio volume can be set independetly of voices and sound effects but it doesnt help this problem much.

I found the only way to deal with this currently is to install a quieter engine mod so the sound doesnt drown out the radio as much.

I don't think that is the solution. Because, even with engines stop, I can't hear the radio or the gramophone.

Strange. I 've no problem with that in SH3

What if one just wanted the gramaphone alone without the commands mod entirely?
Reason I ask is that now that I have gotten used to the keyboard commands as the game comes stock, and sort of like it actually I'd still like to have the gramaphone.
So how would one go about this?

I second this, I don't want to go back to the old keymap, but instead I'm looking on mods and commands that add things to the stock game. So is there already any mod that do that? Like adding the gramophone, radio and missing stuff to the new commands.. would be great.

Check out DarkWraith's new UI Mod, it adds a lot of stuff not there with SH5 Stock.

Yeah I know. I respect his hard work, but I don't want to go back to the outdated SH3 graphics/interface and keymaps. I'm looking for mods that actually add things to the stock game, not bring it back to an early stage. I like very much the new interface and the commands as it is now, is just I miss some basic stuff that the devs "forgot" to implement.

An extension of the actual command bar would be awesome, all is needed is some new icons with shortcuts to gramophone, radio, depth under keel.. the very basic commands.

When it comes to movement around the sub, I like the arrangement of things stock. I've looked at Church's layout, and with it would be uncomfortable having to have my left hand so far to the right side of the keyboard and my right hand on the mouse controlling direction.
On the stock congiuration the left hand is on the left side of keyboard and everything is at your finger tips with out having to move one's hand around much. I can control everything with my hand in one spot, and all is within my finger's reach.

Most any other layout especially the old one, and your all over the keyboard.

Well I'v downloaded Church's mod and I'll just have to look in it to see what he did and just do it manually like I did for depth under keel.

From memory you just need to asign key commands to the radio and gramaphone. I suggest you guys have a look at the mods forum (maybe one of the radio mods) I clearly remember one of the modders talking about how to do this in a thread.

I also have to say that I felt the same about the stock layout but to be honest now I've installed Church's mod and am using it, I love it. It also comes with an F1 layout , so it's really easy to get used to IMO.

Either way I wish you good luck.

Lots of strange issues with the sounds - i've messed around alot with them trying different things, seeing what works and what doesn't.

I've come to the conclusion that some sounds have been left out because they cause issues with other sounds and some are hard coded and cant be changed.

I will say this much though - SH5 is great fun to edit and some of the mods being released are excellent. Given time SH5 will be something special, its just a shame it was released the way it was. I think the devs wanted to do so much more with it, hopefully we will have a decent patch in the near future.

Ok I got my gramaphone working, just added the key info into [Cmd562] in the commands cfg. I used the G info first as that was what was in Church's mod, but I'll change that to have it X as I forgot that the G key was already binded to the crew mgmt page. Having that way didn't hurt anything, its just that both the crew mgmt page and the gramaphone page comes at once.
Ok so I got it binded to X just fine, and one can do this for any key you wish by entering the key hex figures associated with that key/character. Just look up ASCII code table on the net, and copy one and print it out. In that table will be the codes for each character.
For mine I used Key0=0x58 ,, "X"
So the command entry looks like this for mine binded to the "X" key :

[Cmd562]
Name=Toggle_Activate_Gramophone
Contexts=1
Key0=0x58,,"X"

Now to load that gramaphone sound folder with some music. I got a bunch that I used in SH3 still in the SH3 stuff folder in my documemnts, and of course any music file you have will work.

Arrrr.........:salute:

I wanna complete ur gramophone solution with the one for the radio:

[Cmd561]
Name=Toggle_Activate_UserRadio
Contexts=1
Key0=0x54,c,"T"

This bring up the radio interface by pressing the Ctrl+T combo.
We should make this a [TEC] on the mod section for others to use...

Put some music into the Gramophone folder, by default is only 1 track there: Gramophone_track.wav. The gramophone act like a mp3 player, so u can drop any music there, mp3, wav etc.

Head over the mods section and search for some mods with oldie music for the gramophone in the case u wanna listen some Edith Piaf &stuff.

I believe the command.cfg file is in the Data folder, which is inside the SH5 folder. I would recommend making a copy of the original command.cfg file, just in case. :D
