That piece of news is slightly outdated, just about 13 years to be exact: http://uboat.net/boats/u1053.htm
Sank 15 Feb, 1945 in the North Sea in the Byfjord north-west of Bergen, Norway in position 60.24N, 05.13E, after an accident during a deep diving trial. 45 dead (all hands lost).
Wreck was located in 1997.

I think that the Coastal Administration would know if the wreck was found in 1997. And I am not sure that the position given at uboat.net is the same as where it is placed now. Might be, but that sure would be strange.

Apparently they didn't if they report it as found now, or they've got the wrong wreck. I'm pretty sure the one I linked has been confirmed as U-1053, and the position is just outside Bergen.

I am no expert on the matter.
