This is driving me mad, does anyone else have those "crashes-to-desktop" problems??

i reinstalled the game, installed the patch. start the game, go through tutorial, all fine. then i start my first mission and go on patrol, and go hunting. i played for an hour or so, sunk 3 ships, 2 tankers and 1 merchant. destroyers caught me, but i got away with minimal damage. then i tried to see through attack periscope and RRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound hangs, mousepointer from windows appairs and a messagebox (?) but i cant read whats in it, because the game is in front of it and i cant alt + tab toggle to see it.
this happens to me ALL the time i play silent hunter 5, and most of the time it crashed when i want to look through periscope, but also in other situations.

i restarded the game a few times, played a few hours, and it crashes all the time.....frustrating :wah:

and, there´s that savegame-problem that i also know from silent hunter 3 and 4:
when you save your game with any ships near, the game crashes when you want to reload. sometimes it works, sometimes it crashes after a few minutes in-game, or sometimes the ships are gone or in different positions.........:damn:

my specs:
intel e8200 overclocked and running stable@3,6ghz
geforce 8800 gts 515mb ram
2 gb corsair ram running @900mhz stable
win xp
nvidia 192.21

dont try to tell me that it has something to do with my overclocking, cause i ran severall burn-in tests, i watch my temp and it NEVER crashes in other games or programms, photoshop cs4, ableton live, modern warfare2, dragon age.....all fine !!!

so, i go to sleep....pissed and tired  :nope:

ahhh, an

Try turning all settings down to min.... espicialy shadows (nivida cards have problems with the shadows in this game).

Disable all the 3D settings (put them to app controlled) in the graphic card app.

Then test the game to see if this crash still happens.

Just because overclocking works with a lot of things, doesn't mean it will work with everything. That'd be the first thing I would check. After that, drivers. Then a memory test.
