Probably a very simple explanation for this, but here goes anyway. How do I get the wooden looking stopwatch that constantly sits at the top of my screen to work? I've seen posts saying press the X key. That just seems to fiddle with my snorkel (ooeer missus!).

Ta much for any help.

The one at the top in a wooden case is not for use but reading only.
If you want to use it, you need to go to periscope view where you
can use it.

The one in other screens is for consultation only when you have
torpedoes in the water and when to see when they will hit,
without being under periscope view.

Ahhh thanks for that.. I was wondering the same thing myself but was too lazy to ask.

If you use GWX, look at the top of the screen. You'll see the very bottom of it there, looking like a little wooden bar. Just reach up with the cursor and drag it down.

Don't forget, clicking on the watch face will run you through a cycle of start, stop and reset.

Sailor Steve - I know how to get at it. I just don't know how to get it to tick!
Jimbuna - I've tried that. It doesn't work.
Gilbou - I'll try that later. Can't say I've looked to see if its running if I turn on the metal one you get in periscope view.
Pappy55 - Glad to help :)

I think the pulldown one in the "wooden" case only shows what the game's stopwatch (the one you see in periscope view, for instance) is doing. You can't click on the pulldown one to make it start or stop, but you CAN pull it down so you can monitor the passage of time when you're in a screen where the game's stopwatch is unavailable.

For instance if you fire a torpedo from periscope view, the regular stopwatch there will start ticking. So will the pulldown one. Then say you dive to avoid an approaching escort, lower the scope, and go to the command room. You can't see the stopwatch any more that you had at the periscope, but you can still bring down the pulldown one and watch the seconds to expected impact tick away.

If you bring down the pulldown watch while you're in periscope view and click on the game watch there, you'll see the pulldown one start and stop in synch with the clickable one.

Ok. Thanks. But how does that help if I need to time distance travelled on the navigation map. I'd like to put a marker down and time how long it takes a ship to get from A to B, and therefore work out speed etc. Surely thats necessary for plotting intercept courses.

If the stopwatch has to be started in Periscope view then I can't sync it with a marker. Or do I just start the watch, go to Navigation map, wait for a suitable reference point (ie: 1 min) and then time the event. Seems a bit daft not to have a stopwatch you can use anywhere on the boat. Or do I buy a stopwatch :hmmm:
