Sudden Slowdown?

After a nice long patrol out of Manilla, patroling of the NW shore of Luzon, across to Taipei for some photo work, and then up into the East China Sea for another patrol, I've run into a bit of an issue. Any time I go any higher than 256x accelleration, the music stutters and time crawls. Normally, this isn't an issue, excepting that my base was just changed to Surabaya and I'm out of eels.

I seem to remember something when I played years ago about the radio message buffer getting too big, but when I google it I see nothing. Is this the issue? Is there some fix? Can I apply it to the current patrol or do I just have to scratch it up (or sit for a 4 hour cruise back to Surabay to get the renown for the patrol) as a loss?

Try saving the game, closing it down, and reloading. Make sure there's nothing sucking up resources in the background. Maybe reboot the computer.

If that doesn't solve the issue, or if it temporarily resolves it, at least you've eliminated some possible causes.

Tried that and it didn't work at all. :( I'd hate to lose out on the renown. It's not a ton, but it's a good bit. Thanks for the advice, though! And thanks for the welcome aboard!

Mmh, when i enter an enemy 'port zone' 2, 3 times, then sometimes i cannot go the same high TC while returning to the base as before leaving port. Maybe is some kind of bug.

I've had that happen once or twice but a save and reload fixed it.
One time it just cleared up by it's self.

What mods, if any, do you have installed?

I'm running straing stock SH4, no mods, just U-Boat expansion. Don't know if that's the problem or not, but it sounds similar, just no mod involved. Thanks for your insight!

Hey MLD and forum! I'm new to the subsim genre and have been enjoying SH4 for a couple of weeks. I have this exact same problem. After playing a fresh install for a few hours, running TC well above 3K, the game slows down considerably to where I can't TC above 256X. I'm running on a 9800GT Nvidia gard and 4G ram(64bit) so I don't think its has anything to do with graphics. I turn all graphics to low and it makes so difference. If I erase the game and reinstall it, everything runs fine until after a few hours again.

Helpp!!! If anyone knows a fix please! This is very frustrating! Thanks!
