i sunk 9 ships in that lil patrol area but none of them seemed to give me any progress towards the "British supplies" mission in campaign "happy times"
what gives? even ships heading directly towards Britain do nothing

This most likely happens when you've "acquired" SH5 through alternate channels. The game needs to talk to the ubisoft servers to advance the game properly.

It seems 'campaign problems' has become the new 'no crew eyes' bug to beat legitimate purchasers with the big piracy stick :DL.
The mission requirements sometimes have sub-requirements that aren't listed. In the War Materials case, it says that you need to sink shipping that is carrying 'War Materials' cargo to Britain, or something like that, so sinking warships won't have any effect and possibly outbound shipping won't be counted. If the ships are empty and have no cargo, they also won't count. There may also be further requirements on what type of shipping you need to sink.

Same here. And how would you know what to do, with the sad manual that came with it and vague objectives. I sank over 400,000 tons >20 supplies an 16 warships and two carriers and still failed. Not to mention the hours wasted in trolling patterns. Funny enough I passed the northern part by sneaking into a port and picking off ships while they were anchored. LMAO.
And then there is the issue of being bounced out of my campaign by the server over and over and at times not even being able to play SP because the server won't let me in.
Some big patches better be on the way or this will be junk fast.

Me too. Some guy told his mate down the pub and this other guy overheard him that no crew eyes meant a pirate game and somehow that became a fact. What a weird anti-piracy measure to put in - something that was entirely cosmetic and had no impact on gameplay. If it was an anti-piracy measure, just goes to show that Ubi can write buggy anti-piracy code too! Yay :yeah:!

same to me but read this..sunk 140k of ships inside the coastal line and order was still with mission objective than i end patrol by my self at Wihelmshaven and nothing happened..just refit, i talked again with officer to get a new mission and he gave me the same (as is if it's still under progress), left the harbor to sink some more but i got message I've been assigned to a new command, got medals and crew points, now i am playing the next one.
Just left the harbour the game autosaved and than "worked"....try what i did if not done, i hope it works for you as well.
