View Full Version : From XP to Win7
Looking for some win7 professors here.:) I installed win7 on a 640GB drive, but partitioned 200GB for the system. i can only see those 200GB, where is the rest of the disk? It does not show up like in XP.
Also, how do I get shortcuts to much used programs in the lower right corner like in XP?

Think you still need to partiton the rest of the drive. Go to 'disk management' section in 'Computer Management', gives you a clear picture of the state of your drives.
Do you mean quicklaunch? Create a new toolbar and put this in the folder line: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Okay then, glad you got it sorted. :)
Forgot to mention you may need to enable display of 'administrative tools' in 'Start menu' properties, but guess that wasn't needed anyway.
Nah, just wrote "computer management" in the start box. Ahhhh, now UAC (?) is disabled (that was driving me nuts, yes I know what I want to do, dammit) and after wild clciking and swearing the quick launch buttons are where they are supposed to be.:) Time for a break.

"compmgmt.msc" works too. :yep:
UAC is the first thing I disable after install. And right after that comes customizing the whole appaerance and functioning of Start Menu and the likes. Takes a little time, but makes it so much more pleasant to work with. :DL

It's all good. :salute:
Disk manager just gives nice graphic display of your drive; how many partitions there are, and if there's any unpartitioned space.
